Overview
Renovated in 2014, Kazeya overlooks the majestic Hida mountain range, and offers public and private hot spring-baths. The quiet ryokan features authentic Japanese architecture, spacious rooms with a Japanese interior and free WiFi, while facilities include a garden and free-use bicycles. Free parking is on site. Guests at Kazeya can unwind in public hot-spring baths or a hot public bath, while 3 types of private hot-spring are also available free of charge. Massages can be arranged. The ryokan offers luggage storage, and it has drinks vending machines. Rooms have a tatami (woven-straw) floor, a low table with seating cushions and either Western beds or Japanese futon bedding. All rooms offer garden and mountain views, and come with a private bathroom. They’re fitted with a flat-screen TV, a refrigerator and a safe. Kazeya is a 10-minute drive from the Shin-Hodaka Ropeway Station, and a 1-hour drive from Takayama Station. The property is a 2-minute walk from bus stop Shin-Hodaka Onsenguchi. A one-dish dinner is available upon request, which will be complemented by several side dishes. Although the main dish is selected by the chef, guests can order hida-beef as their main at an extra cost. Guests can also choose to reserve a hida-beef full course meal at a charge.

Great ryokan in the mountains of Takayama. The option of private onsen is what we were looking for, so my wife and I could use them together. Besides, the hotel is great and rooms are really nice.

“Great, traditional stay”
Staff is very nice and helpful. Traditional kaiseki dinner and breakfast was very tasty! Feels like a traditional atmosphere. Free access to private and public onsen. Public onsen was very quiet - there were no other guests at the time we went.

Our best stay in Japan. We loved the location in the valley and the nearby nature surrounded by forest. The room was very spacious and cosy. We enjoyed the private onsen as much as the Japanese breakfast and dinner, especially the full course version. The personnel is exceptionally kind. Definitely recommend.

“Excellent ryokan experience.”
This ryokan had a very good vibe and beautiful interior decorations. The room was very spacious with traditional interiors but with modern conveniences. The futons rested on modern mattresses. We used the private indoor and outdoor onsens without any inconvenience. It was great. The dinner and breakfast were delicious with an excellent spread. We did not encounter any stink bugs. It is not far from the parking lot for Kamikochi (Akandana) - 20 mins drive.

“A Hidden Gem in the Japanese Alps for True Relaxation and Mindfulness”
The property offers a range of facilities, including indoor and outdoor onsen, separate baths for men and women, a quiet library, and comfortable dining spaces. The staff were warm and welcoming throughout our stay, which made the experience feel even more relaxing. Our room was very spacious and well-equipped with everything we needed, allowing us to fully unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

“Outstanding experience with amazing food, peaceful surroundings, and a memorable onsen stay.”
Amazing stay at Kazeya. The tatami room was beautiful with very comfortable futon beds. The Hida beef dinner and breakfast were both incredible. The location was peaceful, and we even saw snow monkeys nearby. I also loved the private onsen, you can’t book it but we managed to use it each time we wanted.

“Great views and experience”
The included dinner and breakfast are really good, as is the staff that gave us all the instructions on how to get to the place (which is very close to a bus stop). The shared onsen were really great, they were clean and well maintained, also the room was very traditional but still had all the facilities such as a water kettle and tea pot, heater and fridge. The structure itself is beautiful and located near the mountains, so there is a great view.

Amazing experience, traditional rooms, delicious food, kind and very helpful staff. The private onsen is lovely but the common one is the best, so beautiful! Thank you very much, we would love to come back again in the future.

“Beautiful, authentic Ryokan experience surrounded by nature.”
Beautiful, authentic Ryokan experience surrounded by nature. Wonderful building with inside garden. Several onsens to try out, public, private and in the room. Great service. And I enjoyed the Samue and jacket loungewear for dinner. Beautiful design in the spacious room. And a partial mountain view from the windows.
