A must experience for your Japan trip, worth every penny

I loved everything about this stay, I was most excited about this hotel for my trip to Japan and it still exceeded my expectations. The rooms were huge and were surrounded by trees and mountains which I loved. The dinner felt like a gourmet experience and I loved trying all the different Japanese food, we enjoyed every second of it The onsens were amazing and they're open all night, taking a dip at 4 am in the morning was an unforgettable experience. Worth every penny I paid for it, would definitely go back if I'm ever back in Japan

Relaxing stay with beautiful onsen and exceptional food

This accomodation was the highlight of our Japan trip. The service was top notch and onsens were amazing. We have really enjoyed the dinner and breakfast that featured local produce. Even though the staff didn't speak much English, they have tried their best communicate effectively. Very family friendly with one of the best kid's meal I've seen. Our toddler had the best time there.

Luxurious stay in a beautful location

The most amazing place I have stayed, really the height of luxury. Our room was the size of a small house with good comfy beds and plenty of space to relax. Very peaceful setting, with lovely surroundings. The onsen is perfect, with two private rooms that have inside and outisde hot baths at a perfect temperature. Food was high quality, with a 10 course dinner and equally good breakfast. Staff were kind and helpful, and helped to make the stay very memorable.

Extremly comfortable with wonderful onsen and meals. The English speaking staff (the lady) was fantastic, told us about the history of this hotel and how they relocated the building from niigata to here, such marvelous story .

A beautiful and peaceful space immersed in nature

This was my first time staying in a ryokan and what a lovely experience in such a beautiful and peaceful space. Our room was very comfortable and I loved the traditional minimalist style. The staff were accommodating and professional. The food was fabulous, and after dinner we enjoyed a soak in the private onsen after a long day of walking around.

Amazing time!! Was Hesitant because we’re normally in the budget range for hotels but this was absolutely worth every penny. You feel so so cared for and they really do go above and beyond to make your time as special as possible. The food was excellent, all kinds of courses and full by the end. Beautiful traditional building inside and out. The private onsen whilst snowing was one of the most special experiences of our lives

Staying at Katsuragi no Sato was one of my favorite experiences from our 2 week stay in Japan. The traditional breakfast and dinner was amazing, better than a lot of Michelin restaurants. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The location is really convenient, only a 2 minute walk from the bus station. The private baths were always open and one of the best parts of our stay. Would highly recommend!

A traditional Japanese experience

Clean and authentic hotel with lots of character, with the ambiance of the nearby waterfall and river. An 11 course dinner of delicious traditional Japanese food, private and shared hot springs baths made with wood and river stone, surrounded by the beautiful forest, all made for a highly memorable stay. I would highly recommend to others.

Fantastic nourishment for body and soul.

We’ve travelled a great deal and this is one of the most memorable stays we’ve ever had anywhere. We were looking for a genuine onsen experience away from the crowds and this was way beyond what we expected: a beautiful and tranquil setting, tastefully designed rooms and bath facilities indoor and outdoor, very refined traditional food and excellent management and staff. A bonus is that the bus ride to get there is very scenic.

Wonderful ryokan experience

I can only call it perfect. Comfy traditional style ryokan, not a large hotel. Great onsen (2 public baths, 2 private ones without need to reserve) with rotenburo and views on nearby mountains. Great rooms with a private fireplace, big windows and view on a garden. Very friendly and polite staff, always providing you with a top-notch service. You'll hardly ever find anything better. Very generous and tasty dinner and breakfast: Hida beef, fish from a local river, some other Hida region specialties. The location in a beautiful mountain region, very close to a bus stop (Takayama - Shin-Hotaka). Would definitely want to come back again.
