I liked the way entire process is seamless for check-in and checkout. There were very friendly guests and everyone respected each other's privacy and we loved cooking in their big Kitchen where we even made new friends. Room was spacious and comfy. Shower room was clean and facilities good - nice to have the opportunity to cook and wash clothes. Good value for money but basic accomodation.

Cheap little hostel with kitchen and laundry facilities. Only 5 min walk to Old Town.

All in all a great hostel, but keep in mind during our stay mostly younger people stayed there, kinda like a youth hostel so it can get noisy, especially in the evening. However there is a noice curfew which the guest mostly obey. So perfect if you want to meet people and socialise, not so much if you want peace and quiet.

I stayed with my family including 13yr old and 8 year old. The facilities were clean and what I expected from a 100 year old Inn. The common spaces had free tea coffee and simple snacks, a well equipped common kitchen and the shared bathrooms were clean and included a bath tub as well as showers and soap, shampoo and conditioner were complimentary. Checkin was self checkin via computer with a quick video call to a central service where you could ask any questions. We loved experiencing this 100 year old well preserved inn. It was simple but had everything we needed for a comfortable and cosy sleep including comfy tatami beds, electric blankets and a heater in our room. We would definatley stay here again, the location was really close to the morning markets and walking distance to lost of the main attractions of Takayama.
