Overview
Located in Okuhida Onsen Village among the Japanese Alps, Hodakaso Yamano Hotel features 7 public hot-spring baths and a fireplace lounge. Rooms offer beautiful mountain views and a private bathroom. Guests at Hotel Hodakaso Yamano can select between classically furnished Western rooms and Japanese rooms with a tatami (woven-straw) floor and traditional futon beds. Each has a tea set and fridge. Designed in the style of a Northern European mountain house, the hotel has free WiFi in the open lobby and the outdoor pool offers mountain views. Relaxation options include a massage service and sauna. Mountain bikes can be hired at an additional charge for guests who wish to explore the area. The hotel is a 5-minute drive from the Shin-Hotaka Ropeway (Cable Car) and a 60-minute bus ride to Kamikochi area. JR Takayama Station and Mt. Norikura are a 70-minute drive while Shirakawago can be reached with a 90-minute drive. Japanese Restaurant Suzuya serves multi-course meals featuring Hida beef. Guests can enjoy drinks by the fireplace at Bise Lounge.

“Wouldn’t stay agian , regret the money spent”
Nothing particularly wrong but for the price you pay you expect a lot more. We were charged at the end of our stay for use of onsens weather we used them or not each day. I understand it’s in the mountains and will be more pricey but have stayed lots of places in the mountains in Japan for cheaper and better services.

Old fashioned five stars Hotel. You could see a little bit of wear and tear through time, but it is still being very well maintained and clean! The onsen was very exceptional and beautiful. The Kaiseki was also 10/10 definitely one of the best Beef i have ecer had in Japan

“best hotel for winter experience.”
The hotel is beautiful, and the staff are very friendly. The spa is amazing. The hotel has many great facilities, close to a ski resort. The beds were made up for us every evening during our dinner, and folded up every day. We were given fresh towels, Yokatas, and socks every day. There is a mixed open-air onsen with swimsuits, which allowed us to spend time together in the onsen. (There are also separated ones.)

Most people might said this hotel is old in not a good way. But I’ll tell you, this is the place you should experience the nice old-style ryokan hotel. The ryokan bed mat is very comfortable.

“Quaint stay”
Very quaint accomodation, retro but that's its charm. Outdoor onsen was very nice with stunning views, dinner was awesome and the morning shuttle (8.45am, 9.15am and 9.45am) to shinhotaka onsen made it so convenient. Beds were really comfortable! There were mattresses rather than just tatamis. Overall we enjoyed our stay!

Exceptionally beautiful location. Very authentic hotel great room and we really enjoyed the Japanese eating and sleeping experience.
