The hosts were extremely kind and helpful, the hotel was well located and perfectly clean. The breakfast was incredibly good, and I would like to stress once again how kind the hosts were to us. This was my second time in Takaoka but the first time at this place - I will book here again if I visit a third time for sure!

The owners were super helpful, supportive and caring. The onsen was an amazing way to relax after a long day. Basically almost in the city everything was reachable by food. The breakfast in the morning was amazing and varied for each day.

The owner were kind and very focused on hospitality. The ryokan is old but authentic, you do feel more emerged in Japanese culture. I didn't try the food because I was out a lot. The big Buddha statue is just outside the door, plus the park, old house district and a few cafes.

“Meal forgotten, so write to remind them”
Our pre-paid dinner meal was forgotten and they could not provide anything. They apologised, but the money back barely covered two bowls of ramen and a drink at a ramen shop by the station. We had been so looking forward to this - our only ryokan dinner - so was disappointing. The rest of the ryokan is (cold and old but) nice.

“Breakfast and dinner were delicious and the service was excellent. Good location.”
Daibutsu Ryokan Stay at a ryokan with an onsen, breakfast, and Japanese-style dinner. It's clean, comfortable, and family-friendly, located near the most beautiful bronze Buddha statue in Japan.

“Fantastic Traditional Japanese accommodation”
The property was a beautiful old traditional Japanese Ryokan. The hosts were amazingly friendly & very hospitality. We had 3 breakfasts there & they were all different but all very delicious. Rooms were very clean & comfortable & the place was in a great location. If you are looking for a traditional Japanese feel I would highly recommend this place.

“Wonderful experience.”
Very hospitable, kind and discreet hosts. Very comfortable and spacious facilities. Delicious meals prepared with care. Wonderful experience. Dōmo arigatō gozaimasu. This is a traditional ryokan, so take it into consideration while booking (calm, curfew, shared bathrooms).

Very kind people running the ryokan. I accidently left an umbrella that I borrowed from them at the nearby store, and the lady said don't worry about it and that she'll get it. It was very genuine. Was only a few other people staying at the time I was there, so it was very quiet. And the bathhouse was a very relaxing and unique experience. Many amenities are surprisingly provided as well, and as soon as I checked in the gentleman provided me hot tea. Was very good value for the money... I just wish there was more to do in Takaoka, but there's some decent day trips you can take from there. Would without a doubt stay there again if I went to Takaoka.

Very nice staff, the rooms were clean and tidy. I've been the only person who used the shared bathroom, so it was pretty convenient. Might be a bit tiny if there will be more people in the bathroom, but overall no complains.

“Quiet & relaxing ryokan within walking distance to the rail terminal.”
The hosts were very friendly and helpful, the venue was private yet close to the bus & rail terminals. Great food as well, if you opt for the home-cooked meals.
