“Warm hospitality, like home on the road”

Sanrinsha is a lovely cottage surrounded by nature, very serene and relaxing, yet everyone is so friendly. The vibe feels like the cottage was in a Studio Ghibli movie. The manager is so lovely, he was a wealth of information, not just for Takamori but travel tips for the rest of Fukuoka. Would road trip would have been so much better if we had met him earlier! He is a true gentleman and we loved staying here.

Super cosy guest house with incredible views of green gardens and Forrest all around. Best bath I’ve ever had, too! Our host was kind, friendly and helpful, and gave us lots of great information about where to eat and what to see in the area. We had a lovely evening chatting with him.

We spent two weeks travelling around Kyushu and Sanrinsha was the highlight of our trip. Satoru San could not have been more helpful, and the place was incredible.

Wonderful location (best to have a car), beautiful house full of wonderful items, cosy. Great onsen. The host has all the local knowledge you would want.

The owner is an interesting and helpful person. The accomodation is great.

It’s a sanctuary in the forest to live in a fairytale for a day

“Comfortable and relaxed with no worries at all.”

The host was welcoming and the house was very comfortable and clean. We stayed in our room amd luckily we were by ourselves. The house has rules and if you keep to the rules you will have a good time. The host welcomed us, gave us some lovely coffee in the morning and some really good advise on where to go and what to see. We are very grateful to the host and we will highly recommend anyone to stay at this place.

Mr Satoru-san is a living legend. and his pension is a legendary pension.

“A homely stay in the forest!”

Nice cosy cottage set in the forest - surrounded by trees and colorful foliages. The owner, Satoru-san is hospitable and helpful to provide advice on surrounding places of interest. Love the little chats with the owner and other occupants from different countries, while having our dinner/tea at the cosy dining hall.

Sanrisha is set in a beautiful location, we felt very welcome and our host provided excellent recommendations for local restaurants and even booked us a table on our first night! The bathing area is clean and well appointed and provided a perfect place to unwind after a day travelling the local area. I would highly recommend staying at Sanrisha.

A very charming and lovely place to stay! Our little girl absolutely love it - just like the house in her story books and keep asking to return! We enjoyed the bath a lot - towels are provided which were very convenient too!

“Amazing stay in this little pension out in the woods!”

We had an amazing stay at this pension! First of all, the place is beautiful, in a truly magical setting with all the trees and the beautiful garden around. If you're by car (which I would recommend), there are enough parking spots in front. Look for the entry of the parking/pension where there are lamps :) Please note that this is not a "common" hotel, as there are shared toilets/bath on the ground floors as well as a kitchen and living space (where you can eat, relax,...). All the rooms are on the second floor (there are also sinks where you can brush your teeth or grab water). Leave your shoes at the entry and take slippers to go around. Our room was big enough for 2 (we left our big luggages in our car and just had a small backpack with change of clothes/amenities). The wifi was very strong too (to plan for the next day). When we stayed there was only another couple and it was very quiet. Since the place is made of wood, it will be noisy when people go around but it's part of the charm. At night, it was sooo quiet 🥰 We particularly loved the bath (shared but you wait for your turn basically) and the owner was super friendly and provided us with many tips and recommendations. He also called the nearby restaurant so we could enjoy a dengaku experience (expect to eat early, everything closes early!). Many nice things to see/do around, easily reachable by car! Definitely recommend it if you're looking for something more rural and homey!!

“Cosy mountain style in the nature”

Lovely setting and really unique decoation of the common area inside and outside. Rooms are spacious. Super frinedly staff, gave us great tips what to visit in the near and wider area. Shower room includes a proper Onsen.

The Atmoshpere and vibes of the place, completely immersed in the woods. The owner was a great and funny host with a unique personality, very happy to share tips for surrounding areas and places for eat and stay. A car is recommended, or alternatively you must be a good hiker. The facilities have shared barhrooms and sinks with other guests, very good for hikers or lovers of mountain refuges. It has a small onsen bath (also sa shared). NOTE: the place is surrounded by trees, which means some insects might inevitably make it inside the common spaces.
