Overview
This award-winning hostel, with indoor pool is housed in a heritage listed building opposite Central Station in Sydney CBD (Central Business District). Guests enjoy panoramic views of the city from the rooftop outdoor area. YHA Sydney Central offers shared dormitory accommodation as well as private rooms. Guests have access to a free WiFi throughout the Hostel, 2 kitchens, spacious dining and lounge areas and a guest laundry. There is an on-site cinema where guests can catch the latest films. The hostel has its own travel agency, café, restaurant and BBQ facilities. Located in the basement, Schirrmo's Bar is open for drinks most evenings. “Excellent YHA, as to be expected for Sydney”
Check-in was smooth an seamless and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is the best - right next to the railway station and with light rail outside the door. Haymarket and Darling Harbour are just short walk away. Reception was always staffed and always helpful.

This is an excellent location for people coming in/out of Central Station by train, bus or Light rail. The choice of room share was good. I only needed from 9.30pm to 6am next morning so was wonderful to have the curtain privacy on the bed.

“Great location”
Amazing location only a couple minutes walking from the train station, with many eateries all around and public transport available directly outside the entrance. Walking distance to the Opera, China Town and many other sites. High security, you need to use your room key to access the elevator, and the key can only be used for your exact room and the bathroom on your assigned floor. I stayed in an all female dorm and everyone was very quiet and respectful. Room and bathroom both kept clean. Staff friendly and helpful. They offer lockers for luggage storage (on day of check out or check in) for a fee. They have laundry rooms available. They have a large common area where you can chill or work online.

Staff were great. Atmosphere in the cafe next door and shared areas was nice. It felt like a safe space to relax. Our room was adequate and bathroom good.

“bog standard hostel experience”
you get what you pay for. privacy curtain is a bonus. bed wasn’t the worst for comfort. good location for going to and from the airport which was my main use of the hostel. had a pool and apparently a rooftop? didn’t see them though.
