The attention and hospitality specially by the front desk lady, Sofia! She was great solving our issues, helping with questions about tours, places to eat, and recommendations.

As a traveler who has stayed in hostels across many countries around the world, I was genuinely surprised to see such a great hostel being managed so poorly by an inexperienced team. My first mistake was booking early. About a week after making my reservation, I noticed that the price had dropped to almost half of what I had paid. I contacted the hostel and asked if the booking could be adjusted, but they refused. The real problems started when I arrived. The receptionist made even the simplest requests unnecessarily difficult. Despite there being empty beds available, everyone was kept waiting and repeatedly told that check-in before 2:00 PM was impossible. When I asked again at 1:58 PM, I was still told that I could not check in before 2:00 PM. The most shocking part of my stay was related to my reservation. I had booked two separate nights. The morning after my first night, while I was still asleep, a staff member woke me up by hitting my bed and told me that I had to leave. When I explained that I had another reservation for the following night, I was told to speak with reception. The receptionist then informed me that I had to completely vacate the room and return at 2:00 PM to check in again. As a result, I had to pack all my belongings, wait around for four hours, and then move into another room. A hostel should be able to handle such a basic situation without inconveniencing its guests. It is disappointing that a property which markets itself as a party hostel is staffed by people who seem unfriendly, inflexible, and unwilling to help. The hostel itself has great potential, but the management and customer service seriously need improvement.

Marco Polo hostel is honestly a hidden gem of Malta. The dorms are nice with curtains for privacy and big boxes for your belongings. It’s a very social hostel in the centre of the nightlife of Malta and the staff are very nice and helpful. I heavily recommend it to solo travellers under the age of 30

It was much more better than I expected. There were great events and oppurtinities to have fun. The staff was extremly kind and helpful, and the whole community was amazing. I enojyed every moment.

Well located. Nice rooftop. Fist time I went to a hostel that you could kind of close the space with curtins. It gave nive privacy. I read before some comments about noise but it was very silent for me the rooms

The location is good, the staff is amazing, BUT the bed was full of dust, unfortunately I found cockroaches in my bed, maybe they were coming from outside I don’t know.

The building is very worn out and clearly needs renovation. The cleaning staff are doing their best, but it is difficult to properly clean facilities that are in such poor condition. The mattresses are dirty and uncomfortable, the steps to the upper beds are poorly designed, and some room doors are broken. I was travelling with a female friend. We booked two beds in a 12-bed mixed dormitory. On our last night, in the middle of the night, another guest completely undressed in the middle of the room and started masturbating. As the only other person in the room at that moment, my friend felt extremely unsafe. We immediately reported the incident to the hostel reception. The staff acknowledged that the guest behaved inappropriately but said it was not a reason to remove him from the room or call the police. Instead, they offered to move my friend to another room and said they needed to wait until morning for management instructions. Because the situation felt unsafe, we called the police ourselves. The police arrived and removed the person from the property. The hostel staff’s response was very unprofessional, and they clearly failed to ensure the safety and comfort of their guests. We contacted Booking.com and emailed the hostel requesting a refund, but we have not received any response. A few additional notes: The “happy hour” at the bar is misleading. It advertises 2 drinks for the price of 1, but when we ordered two drinks we were charged full price because apparently they must be identical drinks, which was not explained.

Great location in St. Julian’s, close to nightlife, restaurants and buses. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was social and fun, and it was easy to meet new people. Good value for the price.

I never received any breakfast but generally the place is good apart from the noise disturbance from outside nearby bus stop.
