Edgar and John are great hosts. Edgar showed us the grounds/buildings, explaining the history of the house, as well as providing us with good information about what to see and do in Southampton. John was an excellent chef for breakfast. :-)

Glorious period property. Felt like George Washington was going to come round the corner at any moment. Luxurious bedding. Loved the made to order breakfast. Period property but every comfort you expect of a hotel. Felt so honoured to stay there.

“Absolutely beautiful and charming stay. Couldn’t recommend more.”
This property is very special. Not only its history but it’s absolutely gorgeous, the room came with a lounge and separate bathroom, so much space and storage for clothing. It was decorated beautifully and the soft furnishings were clean. The location of this property is incredible, you are a 2 second walk from everything you could need. The hosts were so warm and welcoming, really accommodating to us with allowing us to store our suitcases ahead of and after check in. They also did a complimentary breakfast which was decision and cooked to order. They did arrival drinks and snacks which was a lovely touch. They also have a fully stocked fridge with snacks and drinks along with access to hot drinks which made our stay feel at home. They had a cupboard full of clean beach towels and chairs you could take to the beach! The outside area was gorgeous too!

“The best choice we could have made”
It’s the perfect location to wind down after long flight. Beautiful location, great room, brilliant staff. But that doesn’t do it justice. To feel at home to just help yourself to a glass of wine in the afternoon, the attention of the staff, John cooking you the perfect breakfast (but eggs Benedict 😄)… it’s the total lack of pretence which makes it great. I stay in way to many hotels per year for work but this is the only one which stood out in the last year. Just Awesome

Fabulous location - so easy to walk to the shops and restaurants of Southampton and the beach is about a half hour walk away:) staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and wine every evening - lovely.

“A perfect getaway for peace of mind”
Location is perfect as it is nestled along the main street. We could walk to most places easily. We took the LIRR and took an Uber to 1708; we got Ubers almost immediately. The property is extremely charming and so lovely; it is like stepping back in time. It is a wonderful place to take a break after the hustle and bustle of NYC. We stayed in the cottage and were very happy with the amenities within it. Breakfast is amazing; John is so cheerful and friendly and his food is incredible! Great start to our days. The kitchen is also open to guests so we were able to get drinks and snacks even after hours. That is a great convenience to us as well. I would highly recommend 1708 to anyone visiting Southampton for the first time.

When we checked in, there’re two deers looked at us outside the cabin, as if to greet us! Everything is good, especially the breakfast!
