Gail was a very friendly host who has a passion for antiques with old fashion finishing touches throughout her home. We loved waking up to the smell of breakfast instead of an alarm clock .She's very courteous on breakfast times even for us late risers. We will be booking again when we come back to to the 🏝 island .

Lovely, Quiet Setting with Amazing Host who Creates the most Delicious Breakfasts

This review is going to be all over the place because I have so many things to say about our stay. First of all, this was hands down the best bed and breakfast I've ever stayed at and I would stay again in a heartbeat. Gail was an amazing host, so warm and welcoming. I hope this doesn't sound rude, but as a young adult I immediately felt like I was staying at my grandmother's house. About this house: the location was easy to find, on a quiet street and up a steep driveway. To be honest, I was worried when we first set foot in the house because I thought it would be hot (no air conditioning) but the temperature stayed comfortable throughout the night, thanks to the ample shade from the gorgeous environment. Good amount of parking too. When we left later to meet our friends at French Beach, it was only 10 minutes' drive away from Sooke town centre, where we were able to pick up groceries and other things for the beach. I'm not sure why other reviews claimed it was so remote; there IS a restaurant maybe 2-5 minutes' drive away, and I would guess probably 10 minutes of walking. The breakfast was AMAZING, so filling and so different from most bed and breakfasts. Gail called it "continental" but good gosh we were absolutely full at the end. She made this English dish called a "coddled egg" which was almost like a souffle. She also had all these wonderful touches throughout the suite, like candies, chocolates, and homemade baked cookies. You can tell she puts so much care and love into what she does. My husband wants the recipe to her scones, or at least for Gail to open a store so he can continually buy them plus the cookies from her. Gail was excellent with COVID safety -- she would always physically distance herself as well as mask up; those aforementioned homemade cookies were wrapped in cellophane and left via contactless delivery on our doorstep. I was so thankful for this attention to detail. Amazing stay.

Cozy, comfortable cottage

The location was beautiful and very convenient for the activities we had planned (Sooke Potholes). Gail was very sweet and made us a lovely breakfast even though we didn't order one! We had the top floor so it felt private and cozy.

Would definitely go back!

Gail’s place was an absolute pleasure to stay at! The place is beautiful, clean and on an amazing little piece of property. Gail was a wonderful and very accommodating host. She made us breakfast from scratch- some of the best scones and pancakes we’ve EVER had so make sure not to go anywhere else for breakfast. She would leave the breakfast downstairs for pick up and had all the right COVID protocols in place. Thank you Gail for making our trip to the island extra memorable!
