“Great deal and unique experience.”

Very old vintage hotel - built in the mid 1800s -really unique experience overall. On request we got a room further from the street. Quite good breakfasts comparing to other motels (sweet tho, American style), iron in the room, swimming pool, very good price in general.

A quaint hotel, with a very historic feel about the place. The room was nice but why not put a microwave into it? Or a coffee machine? Or coffee and microwave at the reception desk even......?

In a great location, had a very friendly staff member greet us at the check in desk and was just a lovely person to interact with. Accommodation was quite cute.

Beautiful historic building from 1850, both the rooms and the furniture create an evocative atmosphere where it seems like you have gone back to the time of the settlers.

“Disappointed”

I will try to be objective,, I have stayed in the gunn house a number of times over the last 30 years and I have all ways had a positive experience until now, I do not know how long the present management / owners have been running the hotel but I was disappointed with my experience on this occasion, Previous comments from people claiming to have stayed in the Gunn house do not match my experience, the pool was in a very poor condition, it was in need of a good clean , the breakfast was not as described, very little choice and late opening in the morning, ( States 07.30 but only started setting up around 07.45 ) my experience may have been the exception and I hope it will be improved,,

There was no problem with late check-in. An original-looking hotel.

Quirky place, full of character, friendly. Good size room, verandah. Great value.

Using the waffle maker was fun.

“Unclean, uncared for, unusable!!”

I know the property is old and that’s supposed to be part of its charm but that doesn’t exclude it from being clean. All external areas were dirty and uncared for, dead plants, filthy furniture, litter everywhere, just unusable. The room was a decent size as we were moved from a single queen (with a constantly running bath tap) to a double queen but there were stains / dirt on the pillows including one that looked like a drop of blood, ant infestation in the bathroom, bath unclean and generally just unsatisfactory. We did try to complain but nobody answered the bell on leaving, there was no way we were stopping for the paid for breakfast!!!

breakfast was good and hostess mommy who prepared breakfast was very kind/generous. if you meet her at breakfast then, ask her which place is recommended to visit near the city then, we will advise every local historic things which you could not get through googlemap.

First hotel that made an effort with what they served for breakfast. Nice to be able to use real cutlery and plates. Old style hotel that has character.

My husband and I are homeless and we have chosen to stay at the Gunn House twice. First time was nice but this last time was not satisfying. The bathroom shower floor was covered in hair and felt really gross on my feet bad water quality.
