Just about Everything! A sublimely relaxing place with a wonderful feel to it, exceptionally comfortable room and terrace, lovely pool and very good food. The staff were relaxed, friendly and very attentive and the whole place was just a joy to wander around.

“Not Relais & Château standard, reception staff rude and unapologetic about bad service”

Our two rooms were noisy despite requesting quiet rooms at the time of booking. One of them was located right above the reception area. All conversations between staff and guests could be heard inside the bedroom. When we complained about it, reception staff was unapologetic and was only able to change one room for one night over our 4-night stay. Around 30 € was deducted from our bill as 'compensation' for the inconvenience! No manager is on site to address issues and oversee standards of service but there is someone in the sister hotel 15 mins away. No cooked breakfast available. Very uncomfortable seating on wooden stools and small wooden tables. Most waiting staff does not speak English. The lunch and dining areas are in the same location as the breakfast area with a limited menu which does not change from day to day. Amateur service overall. The reception staff who showed us our rooms did not know how to put on the electricity in the room, the wifi code provided was incorrect. Wifi reception in general is intermittent and not available on the private terrace outside the bedroom. Limited GSM also due to isolation of the hotel. When we returned one morning into our room, cleaning staff had gone in to clean despite the Do not disturb sign on. We asked them to come back after 10 mins as we needed some privacy. They left the room upside down with the bedding taken out. We then went on a site visit around 10 am and told the cleaners that they could now do the room. However, when we came back around 2 pm the room had still not been done up. When we told reception about this, the answer was that it was our fault that we interrupted the cleaners and that they would come back when the rest of the hotel rooms had been done. When we explained that we had the Do not disturb sign on, the answer straight away was that it was not possible that the staff would have gone in with the Do not disturb sign on! The implication being that we were talking nonsense.

The staff were absolutely fabulous. They created a vey welcoming, flexible and accommodating atmosphere and couldn't have done more for us to ensure our stay was perfect. The property is supremely beautiful, tranquil, surrounded by nature and animals and it was the perfect scene for the most relaxing break I have had in years.
