The place was really well-equipped. We were worried we weren't going to be able to have dinner but they had a common room with a TV, books, a microwave, and an electric kettle. kitchen plates, etc; that saved our night. On another note, (maybe this was because we stayed out of season and the hotel was not crowded), even if the toilet/shower was not en-suite, we had no problem with it and both were near the room and were well equipped and clean too. I loved that the guests were allowed to play the piano in the hall (I can't play the piano but thought it was nice that anyone could play it) and there were some games for small kids too. As I said, the facilities had everything you could need.

we booked 3 rooms and one of them was smelling very bad. someone must be smoking in there the other night is our guess. the lady on the reception did not even come to see it and did not give us another room or discount or anything. she was not very helpful.

Including breakfast. but thats why a night here is expensive. Place could have been very beautiful if they just renovate it. everything is super old and dirty. Was an old boarding school.

Very pleased with the buffet breakfast with multiple options to suit all your needs. It was clear the staff genuinely cared about the quality of the food and service they provided each day. The location was in walking distance to the Skogar museum (highly recommend), waterfalls and the start of the Fimmvörðuháls hike, which was the reason for our stay. The room was spacious, with a comfy bed and heater for drying our clothes that became soaked during our trekking. After a long week of trekking, we welcomed the quiet location and would return on our next visit to Iceland.

Breakfast was good. The staff was nice. Location was perfect. Very close to the fantastic Skogafoss waterfall.
