“Bahia's hidden gem”

Pousada Marinheiro is a great little place right on the beach in Sitio do Conde (not to be confused with nearby Villa do Conde), and I must say our stay  - 4 people - was made all the more pleasant by our hosts, Marcos and Gleise, who were more than welcoming. Marcos is German, and Gleise is a Baiana, so you get the best of both worlds! It does get a little windy there, so bring a jumper or light jacket if you arrive in the winter and want to spend time outside ... and with the possibility to barbecue right on the beach or enjoy the most gorgeous sunrise right in front of your eyes why wouldn't you?!! Bahia's winter temperature averages 28°c, so cold it aint! Future plans, I understand, will include a swimming pool and possibly horseriding along the beach ... and I have seen more horses in this area, roaming free, than anywhere else on our travels, so you are in for a treat if you like horses  - they're simply everywhere! Inside, the rooms are spacious and simple, but cozy, and everything works as it should. You will be surrounded by maritime knick knacks and pictures of historical figures with a maritime past throughout, but that all adds to the charm. You will find that Pousada Marinheiro is quite modern, it being renovated just two years ago, and the tiled floors and bathroom show this well. Best of all, perhaps, is that there is no shortage of plugs (tomadas) - something severely lacking at other places we visited - and the wifi is the best I had experienced on our 10 day trip around the coast. Breakfast is what you'd expect at most pousadas and hotels in the Nordeste, and Marcos will go out of his way to ensure your eggs are freshly prepared just how you like them, and if you want more caramalised bananas or cheese and salami, just ask. And if you are a gringo, you're in for a real treat: the pousada has it's own supply of coconuts hanging on the palm tree in front of your room!
