Overview
Surrounded by natural African gardens, this eco-friendly lodge offers bright rooms with a balcony overlooking the Gurib River bed. It has an outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi access, and nature drives can be arranged. Rooms at Alte Kalkoefen come with a fan and floor-to-ceiling windows, with an extra outside shower. Each has a private bathroom with a free-standing tub. Light linens and wooden furniture are part of the décor. Freshly prepared, home cooked meals are served daily. Packed lunches are available on request. The 24-hour staff at Alte Kalkoefen Lodge offers guided nature walks and hiking trails. Trips to the lime stone ovens can also be arranged.

The owners are welcoming and the location is amazing, really out of the way, peaceful and quiet. Loved the remoteness. The home cooked meals and friendliness of the staff was superb. Really well trained staff. Lithop museum unexpected and beautiful

Staff was very welcoming, friendly and professional, food was a delicious, room design is very creative, calming and rooms have a beautiful view; also booked a sundowner tour as an additional activity, beautiful view; the absolute highlight for me was the amazing collection of lithop plants!

Beautiful setting, near Fish river Canyon. Well equipped little eccentric , comfortable bed, extensive Lithops plant collection. Well worth the visit. We BBQed Selfcateting but the food smells from the main building were mouthwatering
