Overview
Situated amongst vineyards, the Vrede en Lust manor house dates back to 1688 and has been converted into elegant cottages with open fireplaces. The extensive gardens include an outdoor pool. Free Wi-Fi is provided. The air-conditioned house and cottages each contain a lounge with original features such as wooden floors and chandeliers, as well as a flat-screen TV. They all have modern private bathrooms and boast views over the surrounding countryside. Guests of the manor house can prepare meals in the country-style kitchen and the cottages are equipped with a microwave and refrigerator. Lust Bistro, is open for breakfast and lunch daily. A shuttle can be arranged in the evenings for guests to experience the culinary delights from the variety of other restaurants in close proximity to the estate. Vrede en Lust Estate offers tastings of the wine produced in its cellars and other vineyards in the Franschhoek region are within 20 km of the estate. Situated in Simondium, Vrede en Lust Estate is a 10 minute drive to Paarl and 20 minutes by car to Stellenbosch. Free private parking is provided.

Vrede En Lust was absolutely stunning. The Savoye restaurant where we spent most of our time had an extensive, beautiful menu to enjoy seasonal food by the fireplace and beautiful VNL wines. Staff were extremely accommodating, professional, helpful and friendly. It felt like being a home away from home, which was down to the hospitality and beautiful settings around. Room was very well equipped and comfortable with the nicest toiletries and room spray available there.

Lovely setting on the outskirts of Franschoek. Beautiful buildings with a restaurant and bakery on site as well as a great wine tasting room! Very friendly and welcoming staff.

Good location. Nice outdoor areas where you can sit in the evening with a glass of wine. The place is clean. The restaurant was very good on the first night, but not on the second — probably a human factor. Breakfasts are good, filling and tasty.

It is a stunning place. Old meets modern in an ideal way. We had a lovely cottage with a lot of space and the details of the cottage were creating this homely ambiance. We had wine tasting (included in the price) on the lovely terrace of the vineyard (great wines by the way). We enjoyed swimming in the pool and having breakfast on the terrace next to the pool.
