“An unbelievably luxurious and tranquil place with amazing wildlife on your doorstep.”

We had a superior villa with a plunge pool. The villa was incredibly spacious, with a large bathroom including shower and bath. The whole villa was spotless. We had an excellent view overlooking Lions rock. The team at the Water Garden Sigiriya were so attentive and could not do enough for you. I was fortunate to spend my birthday here and my husband had been in contact with Chathu, prior to our visit, unbeknown to me, and Chathu arranged for flowers and chocolates upon arrival. On the evening of my birthday the team arranged a very special dinner for me and my husband, it was perfect. The bird life in this resort is unbelievable and worth a visit just for this, such a quiet and serene place. The food was delicious and plentiful and our waiter Salindu was exceptional. You are allocated a butler and we were fortunate to have the services of Udara who was wonderful. The whole team were an absolute joy. Thank you 🙏

“Beautiful setting with an unforgettable view”

The Water Garden is stunning on arrival, with beautiful grounds and a fantastic view towards Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The location is perfect for sightseeing in the area, an ideal place to relax after a day exploring. Highly recommend.

“A fantastic choice for a high end place to stay in Sigiriya.”

Water garden is a great high end property in Sigiriya. It is set in seren nature and water ponds, peacocks roam around as they belong there. The staff was very polite and did everything that we needed during our 3 nights stay. The villa was very spacious and top notch quality, we had a pool villa but it wasnt heated and hence couldnt enjoy the pool, but it was clean and nice to have in summer weather.

We spent two nights at the Water Garden as the first stop of our honeymoon. Quite simply, we couldn’t speak highly enough of this place. Pictures didn’t do it justice at just how beautiful it was. After a long journey we were welcomed with incredibly warm service and that standard never dropped throughout. Special mention to our lovely personal butler during our stay, Udara. He was extremely attentive, friendly and no request was too much for him. He went above and beyond for us and was such a kind soul. Thank you! Another special mention to our restaurant waiter during our stay, Kausn. He made every dinner so enjoyable and made us feel at home during the first few days of our honeymoon. He had great knowledge of the local area and we loved the recommendations he gave us. We stayed in Rooms 5 and 8 and they were both very spacious and clean. Perfect for lounging around after climbing Sigirya Rock. Thanks for having us, it was an incredible start to our honeymoon.

“Serene setting with excellent service”

The service/staff were brilliant and welcoming. The setting is beautiful, calm and the facilities were great.

I never write reviews, but this time it would be simply ungrateful not to praise this hotel and its team, because they really made our trip unforgettable and very special! The place is unbelievingly beautiful and luxurious, but the true gem is the hotel personnel😍 they are all smiles and they sincerely try to make your vacation perfect:) they saw that my daughter was eating her curry crab with unmistakable pleasure so they brought her additional portion of crab although we haven’t asked for it but she was delighted to get one:)) and the next day although curry crab was not on the menu that day - they still made it for her. We will definitely come back to this hotel and I will recommend it to all of my friends as I recommend it to whoever is reading this review. Dear Water Green Team - THANK YOU SO-SO MUCH!!!

“Magic garden stay with a dreamy view of the rock and an incredible team”

Staying at Water Gardens is an extremely special experience. The villas themselves are spacious and private and the beds extremely comfortable (and the cot for baby was beautiful). However, what makes it really stand out is the staff: from the moment we arrived (cold towels, drinks and a shoulder massage!) to the moment we checked out (everyone came to say goodbye, and our baby was gifted some beautiful blue water lilies), we felt so looked after. In particular I wanted to say thank you to our butler Udara for whom nothing was too much trouble (late night power outage, extra water, a golf cart to get to dinner in the monsoon rain) and the naturalist Tharindu (whose love for the job made everything feel so much fun — his advice and guidance really made our trip personal and wonderful). The pool is glorious. The Sri Lankan breakfast is fab. The peacocks and lizards and crocodiles are a great supporting cast. They are so patient with a crazed toddler! Strongly recommend asking Tharindu to help you organise the sunrise Sigiriya hike! And also the safari.

We stayed in a two-bedroom villa which was absolutely stunning — spacious, private and beautifully designed, with views that made it hard to leave. The setting itself is incredible, with the water and landscape creating a calm, almost dreamlike atmosphere. Breakfasts and dinners were excellent throughout our stay, and a special mention must go to Madushan, who looked after us at every meal. His attention to detail and genuine warmth really stood out. Our butler, Dilmith, was equally fantastic — he quietly organised everything for us, including our spa sessions which were superb. Nothing was ever too much trouble. All in all, it was one of those rare places that manages to combine luxury with real heart. We left feeling properly rested and already talking about when we might come back.

I had a wonderful stay at Water Garden Sigiriya. The traditional Sri Lankan meals were absolutely delicious and gave me a true taste of the local culture. The service from the hotel staff was attentive and professional, making me feel very welcome throughout my stay. The swimming pool was simply perfect for relaxing, and the view of Sigiriya Rock from the property was breathtaking. It created a serene and unforgettable atmosphere. Overall, it was a luxurious and memorable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Sigiriya.

“Average - not a 5 star experience”

My recent stay at Water Garden Sigiriya was, unfortunately, a bit of a mixed bag. The resort has so much potential, but some key areas fell short of my expectations for a five-star hotel. The Good The most remarkable aspect of the hotel is its stunning location and property. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the breathtaking view of Lion's Rock from the hotel is truly magnificent. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and our butler, Dilmith, was fantastic—he was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I also highly recommend taking advantage of the hotel's tours. We went on two, and they were incredible. Our naturalist, Tharindu, was knowledgeable and passionate, making the tours both educational and enjoyable. They were definitely worth the value.
