Overview
Set amidst a tropical landscape, The Thick Forest features traditional bungalows that overlook Sigiriya‘s Rock Fortress. This non-smoking resort offers complimentary WiFi access and has an open-air restaurant which serves local dishes and drinks. Located 4.5 metres from the ground, the wooden bungalows have large windows that provide plenty of natural light. Each is equipped with a fan, mosquito net and private balcony. With a 24-hour front desk, the resort bicycle rental services, while travel and sightseeing bookings can be made at the tour desk. The Forest is 700 metres from the Sigiriya Tank and 1.2 km from the Archaeological Museum. It is 2.2 km from Boulder Gardens and 44 km from Hingurakgoda Airport.

“Great location and super pool with good attentive hosts.”
Amazing pool! Great staff always around to help if you need anything. You feel like you’re in the bush with a lovely view of Lion Rock from our treehouse balcony. Within walking distance to both rocks and some local restaurants just down the road. Breakfasts were good.

“Amazing location within nature and great host”
Amazing green location, feels remote and you are surrounded by nature, but still within small bicycle or tuktuk ride from the village with restaurants and shops. They have a lovely swimming pool with lounging beds!! Watch your snacks at the pool (monkeys!) The host is most friendly and radiates kindness. The grandpa you wishes you had. A genuine great person!

“Overall good”
We initially were hesitant on arrival at the property as it was a little out of town and looked a little run down. We were quickly made to feel welcome by the staff . They couldn’t do enough for us. Organising tuk tuks, preparing dinner etc. the room, although dated was clean and we all had a good sleep. They even prepared a 5am breakfast for us so we could take on our tour to Lion rock. Overall a great stay

“Relax pool middle of the forest”
Location is nice and relax middle of the jungle. Pool is also very nice and it’s best place to chill. Customer sercive was nice and helpfull.

“Fun stay in a treehouse”

The hosts are very very accommodating and eager to help with everything needed. The accommodation tho is more like a camping, with doors not closing tight, not always warm water available, and a lot of flora and fauna around. So if you have issues with bugs in the house and lack of warm water, it is not for you. If you are ready for a small adventure, it is very great! The view is astonishing to the Lion's Rock out of the window!

We really liked the location, we had a view of the lion rock - which, as well as the pidurangala rock, were super close. the host offered us bikes we could ride, for free, to get anywhere we wanted! the breakfast was authentic and delicious, we were so full! sadly we only stayed for one night so we never got the chance to use the pool they have, we would come again!

“Peaceful place in the middle of the forest”
The property was incredible! We were in the middle of the forest surrounded by any kind of animals. The sound was so peaceful. The stuff was welcoming and always really polite and ready to help

“Never slept so well as in The Thick Forest.”
Cuddled amongst the trees, this is a get what you pay for stay. Hot shower was treat in Sri Lanka, Sensational breakfast supplied with excellent coffee. Staff very accommodating. Unfortunately it was undergoing a major refit whilst I was there and I hope to return in season when the pool pathways are complete.
