“Lovely stay, would definitely recommend”

What a fabulous stay!!! We had such a lovely stay at Cattleya Guest House and would absolutely recommend it. The rooms are large, spacious and clean, and back onto a beautiful garden filled with wildlife - such a peaceful setting to come back to after a day exploring. Asoka’s hospitality was excellent and made the whole stay feel incredibly warm and welcoming. He really does make you feel more like a guest in his home than a traveller passing through. He was also so helpful in organising our tuk tuk for an early morning walk up Lion’s Rock, which made everything wonderfully easy. And the breakfast - honestly, so delicious. Easily the best we’ve had during our travels around Sri Lanka. Thank you so much for having us, we’d happily stay again in a heartbeat!

Very handle location close to Lion Rock and restaurant. The rooms were very quiet with a tranquil garden away from the road. The owner was extremely helpful and helped us with anything we needed including cars to and from Sigiriya. I would definitely recommend.

The garden and the view is amazing, the host really loves his house and takes very good care of it. The breakfast was one of the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time!

Staying at Asoka's charming guesthouse was one of the highlights of our Sri Lanka trip. Perfectly situated just a short distance from the iconic Sigiriya Rock, the location couldn't be more convenient for exploring the area. What truly set this stay apart was our host, Asoka. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel completely at ease, sharing thoughtful tips tailored to our itinerary, along with fascinating stories and historical insights about Sigiriya that genuinely enriched our visit. His warmth and genuine care for his guests is something you simply can't put a price on. And the breakfast? Absolutely outstanding. Asoka's home-cooked meals were full of flavour and prepared with such love and attention, easily a 10/10. It was the kind of breakfast that sets you up for the day with a smile.

“Great”

This guest house is in a great location just a few minutes walk from local restaurants and a short tuk tuk ride to the rock. You can also walk back from the rock when you get down - it takes about 20 minutes. The host family were exceptional. They arranged for a car to take us around Polonuwara and drive us to our next stop in Ella. The breakfast was fantastic with juice, fruit, eggs, roti and Dahl. The room itself was very clean and the shower great, the bed also bed very comfortable. Honestly couldn’t recommend this more.

My husband and 2 daughters loved everything about this property, which more than lived up to the well deserved excellent reviews. There are two cottages side by side which suited us perfectly. The rooms and bathrooms are large with a shady seating area in front of each where a fantastic home cooked Sri Lankan breakfast is served while enjoying the wildlife in Asoka’s beautifully cared for garden. Asoka is a lovely man who cares for his home and garden immaculately and we very much enjoyed learning about all the animals and birds who drop by .. the monkeys can be very mischievous! If you’re lucky, you’ll see an elephant wandering past the end of his garden, but sadly, we didn’t! Do not miss the opportunity to stay at Asoka’s place if you can!

We had an amazing stay at cattleya guest house, the host was amazing, so attentive & helpful! Helped us to organise a few trips, one for a safari to the eco park which I would recommend! The room is lovely, spacious, clean & cool and breakfast is a feast! There’s also loads of wildlife in the garden which is great to sit on the terrace and watch. I absolutely recommend a stay here!

“A fantastic start to our trip to Sri Lanka!”

We started our trip to Sri Lanka at Cattleya Guest House, and we are very glad we did. The room backs on to a lush garden where we saw plenty of monkeys and wildlife. I also enjoyed some time reading in one of their hammocks - bliss! The rooms have everything you need for your stay and the beds are very comfortable. The Guest House is within walking distance to Lion's Rock and plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants (highly recommend Little Hut!) Asoka and his family made us a fantastic, traditional Sri Lankan breakfast each morning on our veranda - everything is freshly made and truly delicious, we will miss it! Asoka is on hand to help with arranging transport and excursions should you wish. Overall a wonderful 3 nights and we would recommend this Guest House to anyone staying in Sigiriya!

“Lovely family run guesthouse!”

The guesthouse itself is perfect for your stay in Sigiriya and Ashoka (the host) goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. His advice really helped us maximise our time in Sigiriya and he gave us advice for the rest of our trip in Sri Lanka too. Definitely book your safari to Hurulu Eco Park through Ashoka because we had the best experience with a great Jeep and driver! He even organised for his son to drive us to Ella and he was fantastic too! They’re a lovely family who really care about your safety.

EXCELLENT 10/10! There is no better place you can find in Sigiriya! We are truly lack of words to explain how grateful we are for the host of this guest house. Ashoka, the host, made our stay truly exceptional. He was organising every activity and transportation for us, so the stay was absolutely hassle free and the communication with Ashoka was flawless. We got private taxi organised from Colombo and later to Ella. Ashoka organised the private safari for us and transportation wherever we wanted to go. Both tours and transportations were priced reasonably. Also rooms are spacious and very clean! One of the most amazing part of staying in this place was food. Breakfasts and dinners, were amazing and delicious - Ashoka’s daughter is a very good cook! Best food so far in Sri Lanka! We are going to remember this place for a long time. Thank you Ashoka, all the best!

“Comfortable, quiet and walkable”

It’s looking over a garden, tucked away from the busy town but you can walk to main restaurants. We stayed here during the cyclone and the hosts made sure we felt safe and comfortable. The breakfasts were also so so tasty.

A small place (two rooms at the moment) at the end of a road and in the forest. So very quiet. Having said this it is only a 5 mins walk to the main road where there are a number of good restaurants, so great location. Maybe advise them if you dont want Sri Lankan style breakfast (Dahl curry etc) and they will do you a nice a western style breakfast . My wife still talks about the fresh fruit juice.
