“Lovely stay with a wonderful family in Sigirya”

Grand Freedom is much more than a homestay: it is a magical place surrounded by jungle and untouched nature, where a deep sense of peace can be felt at every moment. The location is very convenient, close to Sigiriya and the main attractions, as well as the bus stop. The room was spacious, welcoming, extremely clean, and carefully maintained in every detail. What truly makes this place special is Sajith. Traveling through India and Sri Lanka, Sajith is one of the most honest, respectful, and trustworthy person I have met. His care and attention come from a genuine love for nature and a deep respect for people. He is always available for anything you might need: whether it is information, help, or simply a friendly conversation. Also at 5 in the morning! Spending time with him and his family was the most beautiful part of my stay in Sigiriya. They are incredibly kind hearted people with a warm and generous spirit. Also, breakfast and dinner are absolutely delicious. I always felt completely safe and at ease during my stay, and I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone (solo traveller also!) visiting the area.

“Nature-filled retreat with warm hospitality and delicious breakfasts”

A lovely little accommodation located just a short distance from the main road, yet perfectly surrounded by nature. You can truly feel immersed in the natural environment, with birds, squirrels, and even monkeys all around. If you enjoy waking up to the sounds of nature, this is definitely the place for you. The owner is incredibly kind and helpful, always making sure everything is perfect for your stay. Every morning, we were treated to a delicious, freshly prepared breakfast, which made the experience even more special.

“Stay for the food and hospitality.”

The best meal we had in all of Sri Lanka was having dinner here, cooked by the hosts mother. The breakfast were also very complete and filling. The room rating itself is probably a 7 at best given its exposure to nature and existence of ants etc. But the hospitality and food more than makes up for it. The host even gave us a small tour to a local lookout. We were able to walk (flat) to Lions Rock.

We had an incredible stay here. If you are looking for an authentic experience in the Sri Lankan jungle, this is the perfect place. Sajith welcomed us with a fresh juice and immediately made us feel at home. He even took us around the area to show us a beautiful viewpoint and introduced us to many local plants and their benefits. It was fascinating. One of the highlights of our stay was cooking with his mother a wonderful and memorable moment. Sajith and his whole family are incredibly kind and welcoming, and you truly feel like a guest in their home. The place is surrounded by nature, right in the jungle, which makes the experience very special and peaceful. Sajith also arranged an amazing massage for us, which was the perfect way to relax. We are very grateful for this beautiful experience and highly recommend staying here if you want something truly unique and genuine.

Amazing location, right in the middle of the jungle. Incredible service, maybe the best I've had in years of travelling. Our host took us for a tour around the surrounding area which was wonderful and organized a safari for us. He organized laundry for us and the breakfast was exceptional. Sajith's mother also cooked us a wonderful meal one night.

We loved our stay at Grand Freedom. Sajith made it very personal and special with long chats and a lovely walk up to the top of a nearby hill. Sajiths Mum prepared a delicious breakfast each day and we also ate in one evening and that was also excellent. We are vegetarian and that was no problem. What a lovely family and a great place to stay for a very reasonable price. I also did some wood carving at a small family run place at the same end of town. It was called Rathnayaka wood carving. Also excellent.

The host was so caring and thoughtful. The food was outstanding. Sitting outside under cover with lighting giving a lovely atmosphere for breakfast and dinner.

First I considered not to write anything and keep it as my own secret hideaway- but no. This is the most wonderful place I have been visiting - the host is such a good and honest person, the room and surroundinds exceeds the pictures and the place is perfect for seeing the area.

Leaving this place truly breaks your heart. Tucked away in the forest, it feels so genuine and peaceful, and from the very first moment we felt welcomed like part of the family. We enjoyed the best sri lankan breakfasts and dinners, full of authentic flavors and cooked with so much love. Evenings were filled with wonderful conversations that made us feel at home. Sajith has a heart of gold with a story built on hard work, determination, and love for his family. What he has created is something truly special, not only for himself and his loved ones, but for everyone lucky enough to come and stay here, like we were. We already can’t wait to come back.

The host was wonderful kind and friendly. The homemade food from his mum was incredible.

Extremely friendly hosts - whole family was amazing and shared a lot of interesting infomation with us! Room was very clean, comfortable, peaceful surroundings - we felt like in a jungle while being very close to the town. Breakfast was rich and very tasty. I highly recommend this place!

The stay was clean and beautiful. It had hot water and everything else you possibily need. Sajtih was the incest and his mom cooked us the best dinner we had in Sri Lanka so far. I even got a lot of homemade currypowder from his mom for free to bring home. I would highly recomment

The houses are almost in the jungle which is a nice experience. The owner is really friendly and helpful.His mother prepared amazing breakfast for us.

We had a wonderful stay in Sigiriya! The homestay was cozy and the curries were absolutely delicious. It was the perfect base for hiking both Pidurangala Mountain and Lion Rock, with both just a short distance away. ❤️ We enjoyed some truly yummy curries in the cute Garden! 🪴 The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, and shared so many interesting stories about Sri Lankan culture. We learned a lot and felt truly connected to the place. He also gave us great recommendations for places to visit nearby, which made our stay even more special.
