“Idyllic stay at start of the hike”

The lodge is on top of a hill overseeing the vast surrounding mountains. I could tell much care goes also into the interior with a colourful and comfortable atmosphere. The dogs are friendly and playful :)

The view here is incredible, food is incredible especially the breakfast

The location is amazing just next to a cliff with a view to the valey and the surrounding mountains and just outside of the village where the loop starts. The views are amazing, every morning was just energizing to look outside. All the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Alejandro did an outstandijg job welcoming and helping us. The dogs are also incredibly friendly. And the food is cooked there for you with care and it could not be tastier. This is a place for those who appreciate simplicity and family environment over high end facilities. I had great experiences during my trip in Ecuador. But this place is on top.

The property was absolutely gorgeous. The owner and manager were so welcoming. The room was cozy with lots of blankets and a stunning view. The food was so good and lots of it! The manager gave us lots of information to help with our hike too.

The view from the hostel is amazing. Food is tasty as well and Alejandro is an amazing host. The design of the hostel is really cozy. We decided to stay a day extra before starting the loop and chilled the whole day around the indoor fire place. A place worth spending a week there

We stayed at Starlight Mountain Lodge at the beginning of our Quilotoa Loop hike and honestly had the best time. The host, Alejandro, was incredible and truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of throughout our stay. All the food was organic, freshly baked, and lovingly prepared by the owner, and everything was absolutely delicious. Our room had a direct view of the mountains, which made the whole experience feel incredibly peaceful and grounding. In the evenings, we played guitar by the fire and fully enjoyed the calm atmosphere of the lodge, it felt like a special moment away from everything. We felt genuinely cared for during our stay. We would highly recommend Starlight Mountain Lodge to anyone starting the Quilotoa Loop or simply looking for a peaceful mountain retreat.

Amazing views, cozy vibes and good food. Staff is excellent. You can start the Quilotoa Hike from here but they can also help you organise any hike or bike ride. Cannot rate it enough.

“a place you don't want to leave...”

A family run small hostel, I felt like a personal guest of the host! Warm welcome, exceptionally good, wholesome + healthy meals! Tasty lunch bag for the trail. Clean room (actually an individual small hut), really hot shower, warm blankets. Common room with books, board games, instruments, pool table - decorated with love. Situated on a hill a little outside town with a great 300° view all around of mountains (2 Ilnitzas) and valley. A place where you do not want to leave, so make sure you stay for two nights!

“All you need travelling the quilotoa treck”

The place was perfect for travelers in every scale! The location is right at the start of the quilotoa treck, the views are exceptional, the room was clean and well equipped. There are games and books for the free time, and they had food options for people with restrictions (Im vegetarian and have an allergy to gluten). There are hot water for shower (you just need to know that you should open it for a bit, and not all the way). Also there is a service of transporting your big muchilas to the end of the trail, and a lunch bag to go. Above all the hospitality was so lovely, we got help with everything we needed (including a ride to the atm!). Would definitely recommend!

Great location with amazing view over the valley

I spent one night at this lodge before starting the Quilotoa Loop and I absolutely loved it. It feels just like home — the welcome was so warm and friendly. The dinner and breakfast were both delicious and very generous. The view is stunning, and you can enjoy it from your bed, the dining area, and all around the outdoor spaces. I highly recommend this place, especially for the kindness of the people.
