lovely hosts, nice and clean room, frogs making noise at night besides all silent. no food there cause restaurant closes at 6Pm had dinner next door. was nice. restroom and shower all nice and very clean

The staff was great! It was ran by the owners and staff. The location was a bit of a walk from the bus station but its not too bad. Staff was helpful and nice. Overall good place to stay!

Honestly, I’m sorry to write this review, but I feel it’s fair to share my experience. I’ve been traveling around Japan for about 20 days and stayed in many hostels, some of them much cheaper than this one, and I have never found a place this dirty. On the edge of my bed there was visible dirt (which clearly showed the bed hadn’t been properly cleaned). The bathrooms were also dirty and extremely cold because there was no heating. It’s a shame because the staff is very kind and friendly, but cleanliness should be a priority. With just a bit more attention and care this could be a good place, however sleeping in these conditions is not comfortable.

Friendly host. There was a staff member who could speak some English so checking in and making enquiries about the stay were easier. The owner was really nice and shared the photo-books of old Shirakawago. Bonus points are - the place is also a restaurant so I didn't have to go far to eat dinner -There's a convenience store opposite so i could get breakfast or snacks easily

Great traditional Japanese stay with the best host ever! Extremely friendly and helpful. Had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant attached to the home. Very memorable stay!

Clean and comfortable. Walking distance to shirakawa-go village but it could be very dark at night.

I was very happy I could stay here (last room available in Shirakawago) and went for the last shared room. The employees helped me find local spots (a very good onsen including opening hours). The accomodation also has a good restaurant with nice local dishes. Be on time since the last order is already at 18:00! The beds in the shared room were okay and the accomodation offered free towels (even to take to the onsen)! Lastly it is very conveniently located with parking and being opposite to the convenience store.

I like the owner, he is so gentle, kindness and try to help us in everything, the meal is so delicious, the room is clean and comfortable and bathroom is good and clean too, so i love it and hope to comeback again.

The expectations were met. Typical hostel, but really close to the main village, very well located. Also, in front of the Konbini. Very friendly hosts.

“Hospitality and kindness on a different level”

I accidentally booked a big room while being a solo traveler so I don't know about the other rooms or beds. Personally the room was 10/10: clean, spacious, traditional Japanese. Now, if the room was 10/10, the owner Sada-san and his wife were 20/10. The most friendly people I have met in Japan so far. Very warm-hearted and kind. I would come back for sure.
