Overview
Okinawa Minshuku Kariyushi offers cosy rooms with free WiFi access just a 4-minute walk from Shirahama Beach. Air-conditioned rooms are fitted with tatami (woven-straw) floors and feature a futon bedding. Rooms are also equipped with a flat-screen TV, hairdryer and a fridge. Bathroom facilities and Toilet are shared with extras including toothbrushes. There is no restaurants on site but many dining options, supermarket and convenience stores are located within a 5-minute walking distance. Guests can make a 10-minute drive to enjoy the view from Senjojiki, Sandanbeki Cave and Engetsu Island or make a 10-minute drive to Adventure World. Nearby JR Shirahama Station is a 10-minute drive while Kansai International Airport is a 100-minute drive away.

They could explain the shower policy a bit more clearly. Based on the communication we received, it seemed as if we had to shower outside, but in fact, they actually offer the possibility to book a timeslot to take a shower in a shared bathroom.

We really enjoyed our stay and especially our host who made the stay that much better with the use of two bikes for the day to explore Shirahama. The room was clean and comfortable and it was nice to have two windows that opened for fresh air. The location is quiet and a short walk to the main beach, groceries and restaurants. The shared bathroom is clean and the hot water in the shared bathroom/shower was the best we have experienced in Japan. Would 100% recommend as an authentic Japanese experience with tatami mats, etc.

“Friendly Place to Stay Close to the Beach”

“Homely Pension Close to Restaurants and Main Beach”
The pension is located near the bus station so also convenient to restaurants and cafes. The room was quite large and included a kitchen, bathtub, bathroom and living room/bedroom. There was a problem with the plumbing in the room I booked, so they graciously offered me a significant upgrade to a much better room for the same price.

The staff was super nice and recommended us places to visit in the area. The hostel had a great location, near the beach and a lot of restaurants around. Over all comfortable vibe, even though the place is not in top condition, it was an enjoyable stay.
