“A charming stay”

The hosts were very friendly and happy to let us practice our Japanese with them. Food was great, multiple courses and they checked in with us regularly. Onsen was lovely and the host provided great info about interesting places in the area. If you get a good night ask to see the telescope. Even when its too cloudy the set up is impressive.

Peaceful location. Friendly host couldn't do enough to help us and with Google translate we were given some recommendations for our onward journey. Wish we could have stayed another night too.

Good location for nature lovers: in the woods. The small road to the bungalows from the main road is only 200 meters or so, and very passable (just a few potholes), not at all as bad (anymore?) as some earlier guests said. Room was heated when we arrived. Wonderful view on Aso volcano in the distance. Good breakfast. Private onsen for limited timeslots upon reservation at the reception the day before.

Very pleasant experience staying in this accommodation. Owner is really nice and there is a star watching platform which when its clear skies owner offer us to star watching. Close to Kuju skiing forest. Room is spacious and there is private onsen which you can book during your stay.

I liked how clean the hotel was and the staff was super friendly and helpful in helping us to navigate our way around Kyushu. Furthermore, they served us excellent breakfast during our stay here.

Family hotel run by an old couple. Manager very informative. Advised on what to see in vicinity. Also has a small observatory onsite to look at the stars and moon when the nights are clear. Breakfast and dinner good. Room and beds clean and comfortable. Comfortable heating.

Peaceful and quiet location. A truly delocious & memorable 5 course dinner that was lovingly prepared by the hostess who together with her husband were the perfect & gracious hosts. A rare treat to see the stars at the host's own observatory. Lovely onsen that was very welcome on a cold evening. We love the quote of our host : "My wife does all the cooking so I cannot look her in the eye".

“Cool retreat in the humid Japanese summer”

A pretty and spacious location, convenient to everything in the Kuju/Aso area. The reserved hot spring was very pleasant. The rooms were very quiet and spacious with all amenities, including good wifi. Hosts are friendly and the food was good and filling. The stay really revolves around taking the meals. Cool in summer.

The husband and wife team running this property is amazing. Their breakfast was prepared and served with pride, and attention to detail. I love the little touches in their tea room. A piano, shelves of books and interesting paraphernalia all contribute to a wonderful homey British countryside vibe. The vast space outside the property includes a hammock and an observatory. The owner is happy to bring you to explore the stars at 8pm there. Our teens had great fun there. We are an entourage of 7 including an elderly who ocassionally uses the wheelchair. We didnt find it hard to get around the property. We love the space of the bedrooms and the privacy of this whole compound. Also love the private onsen where you had to walk just 2 min out(still within the compounds) and you have the whole place to yourself for 50 minutes i think? It was basic but comforting. Just the thing to unwind to after a long day driving around. Booking required. Please note the dinner has to be booked 2 days in advance. We forgot about it and regretted since the breakfast was so yummy.

Simply amazing place. The owner is such a lovely and friendly man, we loved the cottage esp the bathroom is so spacious. The private onsen can be booked and definitely a must do. The surroundings are beautiful, we had a great time watching the stars at night with other guests, a memorable experience we will not forget. Breakfast is delicious esp the bread and coffee, great service and serene view from the dining room.
