A pleasant stay with an affordable private onsen.

We were extremely grateful to the staff for assisting us with a unique scenario. They were so kind and accommodating. I wasn't sure we would be able to use an onsen during our stay in Japan, but they made it happen!

Onsen totally worth it.

The staff were amazing. They spoke a lot of English for a rural town and insisted on taking our heavy bags even when we were more capable, true hospitality. The room was old, but clean and amazingly presented. Considering the age of the town its certainly well above expectations. A tip to any westerners: getting naked in a public bath is more nerve wracking than being naked In a public bath. Push past that first hurdle, and the Onsen experience is well worth it.

Memorable. Like stepping back in time.

Location was convenient right near the bus stop to and from Shibukawa. Meals were superb, the ryokan was spotlessly clean and the staff were so friendly and helpful.

10/10 would come back again if have the chance

Very friendly staff, some of them could speak English well, the room was spacious and had a very good view of the mountains, futon was comfortable to sleep in, appreciated that they topped up the water in the kettle, the onsen was delightful, the snacks were delicious, amenities provided were good quality, location was up on the steep hill but the bus stop is maybe about 100 meters away. Overall, it was worth it and a delight to stay in.

Thank you for the experience

Mimatsukan to us was quite a traditional accommodation, initially was worried about sleeping only on the tatami mattress but it was all good and comfortable!!! The private onsen was nice as well!
