The owner went above and beyond and even collected us from the bus station and was happy to drive us to places we needed to go. The breakfast was incredible. As soon as we arrived we felt like home - our hosts offered us some tea and the most delicious apricot cake ever! The house is very nice and I couldn't believe how quiet it was. A bit far from the old city but if you're willing to walk 15/20mn it is really worth staying there. Breakfast was absolutely delicious.

Warm and inviting place

Cosy and friendly accomodation. Breakfast was so worth it, especially with the lovely view. Large and warm rooms! Easy parking.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. We got a wonderful sense of real life in Azerbaijan and it was so much better than staying in a soulless hotel. The room was very spacious. There were plenty of bedclothes on the bed which we needed because we stayed in winter. There was a very good heater in the room. The tea on arrival and breakfast were amazing. We felt very welcome here.

I spent a couple of nights here as a solo female traveller at Ali's guesthouse. It has been one of the most special guesthouse experiences I've ever had. Ali and his parents were incredibly hospitable. I was greeted by them in my private hire before I'd even stepped out of my vehicle. They were absolutely 2000% helpful with my luggage, etc every step of the way. Their guesthouse was beautifully and cosily furnished, and I felt extremely at home. I had the best sleep in a gorgeous and spacious room. I also had the most lovingly prepared and delicious breakfast by Ali's mum, and fresh fruit cut for me throughout the day. The place was clean, safe and fully stocked with everything I needed. They gave me the privacy and space to do whatever I needed to do, while still making sure I felt completely at home. On the last day, I left some some gifts behind and Ali quickly called me and to ensure I didn't leave without them, testament to their commitment to taking such good care of their guests, even after I'd already checked out. It was truly a special treat and blessing to have crossed paths with Ali and family. Wishing them the very best!

Thoughtful hosts such as Ali are hard to come by in a hospitality landscape dominated by commercial interests. We visited Ali's place on a very cold December evening. While serving us tea, Ali's mother helped my partner with a shawl as she was sitting without her sweater on. To recieve such warmth in a foreign land was beyond our expectation. Besides being a service provider/host, Ali is also a man of depth. He was so kind to engage with us in lengthy and insightful conversations, in spite of his other personal engagements. The property itself is magical, telling tales over a century old. The room is tastefully furnished, is quite spacious and rich in terms of amenities. The directions were adequate and we were recieved by the host itself quite kindly. The breakfast was a rich spread of traditional design and as Ali guaranteed us, we certainly loved it. We travel to faraway lands not only to marvel at landmarks and tick off bucket lists, but also to feel the shared connection in our humanity. Ali's place was perfect in that regard. We will forever cherish the soulful stopover that we had at his home during an eventful and fulfilling journey across the land of fire.

I cannot begin explaining this stay - it was beyond expectation, like a warm hug to the soul! I went with my mum and sister and the service we received omg I cannot even put in words. My mother who is very hard to please was smitten by Ali’s mother’s efforts and of how clean and well kept the place was, everything was so thoughtful. I literally felt like I went to my grandma’s place and Ali’s dad omg the sweetest! When we asked for dinner place recommendations, he literally drove us and picked us back and also drove us around Sheki, SO SO KIND. The view from kitchen area looks to the mountains and is SO cozy! I will come back again and again!!!! MY MUM WAS IMPRESSED BY EVERY SINGLE THING. Amazing breakfast and yummy tea. We are just absolutely blown by this and feels like family now. 🥹🩷

“A lovely big room in a characterful home”

We really enjoyed staying here. It's a large, clean and comfortable room in a characterful family home in a quiet back street. We had our own bathroom just down the hall. The host family was lovely and were helpful without being intrusive. The breakfast was excellent - very tasty and a good range of things to eat. It was great value at 10 manets each. We also got a huge load of washing done, dried and folded for only 10 manets. Ali Ancient House is outside Sheki's old town but is an easy walk there, and is also handy to the town's shops, ATM machines, etc.

Ali and his parents are incredibly kind and warm hosts. Meeting them is clearly as interesting as discovering Sheki. We had a great conversation with Ali, whose courage and intelligence deserve admiration. It was a great experience to discover his great-grandfather's house. We will come back!
