“Outstanding stay – highly recommended!”

We had a wonderful stay at Hoodia Lodge. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff. The lodge is beautifully located, offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere – perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable, with great attention to detail. We especially loved the shared terrace and the breathtaking sunsets. The food was excellent, freshly prepared, and of very high quality – the dinners based on regional products and were highlights of our stay. What truly makes Hoodia Lodge special is the personal touch and genuine hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable and helped us with recommendations and arrangements. We would definitely come back and can highly recommend Hoodia Lodge to anyone looking for a unique, relaxing, and memorable experience.

“The price–performance ratio is completely unjustified”

The accommodation was advertised on Booking.com with a total living area of 120 m². After careful verification and on-site calculation, the actual areas are as follows: – Sleeping area: 4 × 6 m² = 24 m² – Bathroom with toilet: 7 m² – Covered outdoor shower: 6 m² Total actual living/usable area: approx. 37 m² In addition, there is only a covered outdoor entrance area of approx. 15 m², which is neither indoor space nor living area and cannot be counted as living space under common standards. Even when including this outdoor area, the total size is nowhere near 120 m². The discrepancy is substantial. The price of €2,961 for three nights for two persons is therefore not justified, considering the actual size, location, and overall level of amenities. Furthermore, during our entire stay there was no functioning internet connection except for approximately 45 minutes. The owner attributed this issue to the Namibian state. However, in three other lodges in a comparable location and region, where we stayed previously, there were no internet issues at all, making this explanation unconvincing. We would like to note that the staff was very polite and helpful. Nevertheless, this friendliness represents the standard level of service in comparable lodges and does not compensate for the significant shortcomings described above. Overall, this constitutes a case of material misrepresentation, which was decisive for our booking decision.

“Luxury in the dessert.”

All the staff were friendly and helpful. Room was a very good standard. The lodge itself was a very high standard. Could dine in dining room or on verandah with stunning views. A well stocked bar. The dessert guided tour was very good but the best part of our stay, was the sundowner. We were taken to an area from lodge and when we arrived, a table was laid with various light snacks. Bottles of wine and spirits as requested and a selection of soft drinks. Lanterns were placed nearby. We were left for over an hour by ourselves to observe the sun going down and to look at the stunning views. It was so quiet and very relaxing. As our guide said “The experience is like the film Out of Africa” and he was correct in saying this. We have been on many safaris over the years but this experience was our first and can highly recommend it.

Everything! The room, the bathroom, the location, everything was so perfect. The food was the best of our trip and oh my god the experiences! Sundowner and Sossuvlei were truly amazing!

Everything - this hotel was the highlight of our trip. Facilities are amazing and staff could not be better, they made our stay so special. We really enjoyed the day trip to Deadvlei and the sundowner experience. Special thanks to our guide Daniel! Food was great, very complete and tasty menu for dinner.

“Location, quality and top notch service- this place has it all”

The location is simply stunning, situated at the base of a mountain. The staff were exceptional, particularly Paulus who looked after us from the moment we arrived. I’ve never had a warmer welcome, just the way he sat down in the lounge with it and quietly welcomed us to our home for the next two days as he put it. There is so much thought and planning that goes into every detail. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

“A fabulous weekend, in beautiful Sossusvlei.”

Perfectly located, close to Sossusvlei, Hoodia Desert Lodge was the ideal base for exploring the Sossusvlei area. The staff at the Lodge were outstanding - from check-in to check out. Nothing was too much trouble, and they certainly went the extra mile. The food was superb. Enos, our guide to Sossuvlei, was incredibly knowledgeable and we spent the most amazing day with him. We will definitely be back.

Great Namibian experience. Excellent staff including enthusiastic guides (Paulus was great). Taste of food (especially the meat) just better than what you get at home. It is a 20 min drive to the park entrance. With 12 lodges there is a sense of calmness and personal touch. Day in Sossusvlei was well set up with surprising lunch.

“Beautiful luxury lodge experience in the heart of the desert”

We loved our stay at Hoodia. The property is beautifully designed and even more beautifully situated. The lovely pool was a very welcome respite from the heat of the desert. Paulus was a great guide for sundowner and our excursion to Sossusvlei. The food was tasty, healthy and fresh and we especially loved our luxurious picnic under the trees in Sossusvlei.

“Wonderful stay and great experience.”

Beautiful location and very nice lodges. Very friendly staff and delicious food. Especially our guide Lucas was great, he knew a lot about history Namibia and about life in the desert, for example he found a very small hole in the sand and that seemed to be a white spider house. Also his lunches and sundowner were very special. We will remember this as "Lucas's restaurant". We can recommend this lodge 100%.

“Great stay, close to Sossusvlei”

Very nice and quiet lodge in the middle of the desert, yet not that far away from the main road and Sossusvlei/Deadvlei that it was a pain to get there. The lodge has a lovely staff that took care of us in an excellent way. Also the day tour they provide is very much worth it. They provide spacious, clean lodges with warm showers. Also the food was great.

Gorgeous accommodation and super lovely staff making you feel welcome and settling you in. Would definitely stay again when next in the region.
