What a lovely, lovely find in The Gambia! The hotel is beautiful (even more so during the night). A small, boutique gem with nice and kind staff. And the breakfast is to be remembered!

The hotel is beautiful. The owner's attentiom to detail is wonderful and the gardener takes a great deal of pride with the plants. Just stunning. Scrupulpusly clean and exceedingly comfortable. All of the staff are lovely, and we were also warmly welcomed by the owner. Absolutely loved it and have no hesitation to recommend a stay here. We were collected from the airport (€30). It was so hot so we paid for air conditioning (€10 per night). There is a bar.

A very pleasant hotel with a wonderful view. The rooms are luxurious and very elegant. It was nice to meet the owner, Urban, and listen to his stories about The Gambia. The service is unobtrusive, yet friendly and welcoming. I’d love to return there next time.

“Fantastic hotel with an engaged owner!”

Hotel and room are exceptional beautiful! Owner is great, really engaging with his customers and always helpful. Can really help in an African country. Didn’t have breakfast so no opinion on that. Despite not being far from Senegambia road, where most of the restaurants and bars are located, you will mostly need a taxi or tuk tuk for your transportation. But once accepting this, hotel is fabulous.

Looking for a hidden gem in The Gambia? Well, this is the place for you. We stayed here for five nights, and we can't recommend it enough. The vibe and environment was relaxed and we really enjoyed the little oasis hidden away on a rooftop. The rooms are spacious and clean, with all the comfort you'll need. Urban, the owner is a brilliant character: welcoming, interested and with a lot of good stories to tell. His passion for this beautiful hotel he has built really shines trough, not only for the interior and surroundings - but also for his staff. Even though the hotel isn't located by the ocean it is a perfect starting point to explore different beaches, the monkey park, restaurants and other attractions. We were looking at different "high end" hotels in the area, and we can confidently say, after visiting the big resorts by the beach, that we made the right choice staying here! We would highly recommend Rooftop Hotel, and would definitely chose this hotel again. And again. And again.

“A must visit !”

Super nice and atmosferic stay. The rooms are large, and in theme. The rooftop is beautiful ! The bar is a very cool spot to hang. During breakfast, we socialised with the other guest - which is also nice atmosfere. Breakfast was very good too! Beds were very comfy :) Staff was the most helpfull we have experienced in Gambia & Senegal. They went above and beyond to help us arrange things. We extended our stay here by 1 night, because we really liked the atmosfere. Would definitely come back next time :)

“Exclusive luxury”

This is a hotel set apart from the usual. I would recommend that everyone spend a few nights at least for the feel of exclusivity and luxury. It is true it has not got a pool which will put some off for a long stay but if that is the case I would still recommend a transfer of hotel for at least a few nights of your stay in Gambia. There is an outside shower to cool off and the rooftop beds and outside area are wonderfully comfortable. The breakfast was lovely, fresh and plentiful. The hotel is run by a man with a history and love of Gambia arriving, from a celebrated career, to Gambia in 1969 and clearly falling in love with the vibe of the people he has been a figure in the growth of tourism, which is still in its infancy. What he has created from his vision, hospitality and architectural knowledge is unique and unlikely to be tasted elsewhere unless part of the elite - this is an exclusive boutique! We were lucky to have the whole hotel, which only has 7 rooms, pretty much to ourselves, which added to a sense of film star attention but actually the hotel had a wonderful bar and I would think some other guests would have afforded a lively and interesting evening conversation.

In my opinion, this is the only classy hotel that offers both luxury and a place to relax in silence. The road might be a bit noisy but that's just Africa. This is the best place to enjoy The Gambia and have a good conversation with the owner, Urban, if you can catch him around breakfast or in the evening near the bar. The hotel only serves breakfast, but there's a good and affordable restaurant across the street. Take a tuc tuc or walk 15 minutes to Coco Hotel for their spa, swimming pools and beach and come back to the rooftop to finish your day with an amazing sunset.

Loved the uniqueness of the property. Urban has created a wonderful boutique hotel just outside the hustle and bustle of Senegambia. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and special birthday treats! You can lounge up on the rooftop looking at the stars✨ And breakfast is a feast. Look forward to visiting again.

“Oasis of Luxury on the Smiling Coast”

Roof top is an amazing place!! Wanted to go for sometime...now ticked and will be back soon. The beds were outstanding comfort...food...staff...ambiance...everything... the sunbeds so good... 2 nights not enough but as I say wonderful place to stay. Our host Urban has added luxury to The Smiling Coast. ❤️❤️

What an absolutely amazing place. So lucky to have come across The Rooftop & book it for our five night stay in The Gambia. The hotel is beautiful & so carefully thought out & designed, an oasis of green in this wonderful country. The owner Urban is fabulous company, his stories & sense of humour is a joy. The staff are wonderfully attentive & friendly, thank you Tabara, Yama, Muso, Lie & Salif, you all made our stay so wonderful & memorable. I can't recommend The Rooftop enough.

From the warm welcome from Urban and the whole staff team to the beautiful service throughout and the kind goodbyes at the end. Roof top is a truly unique place with beautiful decor and gorgeous rooms. the beds were incredibly comfy, the breakfast was wonderful and the staff amazing. it really is a stunning place to stay and well located (not far from coco ocean) with staff that will go above and beyond! just gorgeous
