Beautiful room and exceptional staff. As previous reviews have mentioned the dinner was absolutely superb as was the breakfast. Our host for our meals was exceptional. Such a treat to be staying here. Loved the separate and private dining area.

Kashintei Shirahama delivered one of the most memorable nights of our entire trip; a truly special family experience that we will talk about for years to come. The setting alone is breathtaking. Nestled alongside the stunning Lake Tazawa, the natural beauty surrounding the ryokan sets the stage for something truly unique from the moment you arrive. But it is the staff that make this place exceptional. From the very first step through the door, we were welcomed with a warmth and grace that instantly made us feel at home. The check-in process was thoughtful and unhurried; perfectly curated and a wonderful first impression of what was to come. Our room was generously spacious, beautifully appointed with traditional tatami floors, and full of authentic character. It struck the perfect balance between elegance and comfort. The onsen experience was flawless. Both the private family onsen and the shared baths were immaculate, serene, and deeply relaxing; an absolute highlight for the whole family. And then there was the food. A stunning procession of perfectly curated local dishes that turned dinner into an experience of its own. The staff guided us through each dish with care and enthusiasm, recommending drinks along the way. The plum wine selection deserves a special mention; outstanding and a wonderful complement to the meal. We ate wonderfully and far too much! For the quality, the experience, and the memories created, the value is truly exceptional. If you are considering a ryokan stay in Japan, look no further. Kashintei Shirahama is not just a place to sleep; it is an experience not to be missed. Wholeheartedly recommended!

The staff, despite warning that they don't speak English was able to communicate enough to make our stay very pleasant and comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent and plentiful.

We have travelled across Japan and stayed at many ryokans, Kashintei Shirahama is right there among the top ones. We had a lake view room and the view is just amazing. There is an attached dining room which is very convenient as the meals are the star of the stay. They are a work of art and we enjoyed every single meal . I am gluten free and was skeptical if I could have anything as Japanese meals are planned well in advance and usually contain gluten ingredients. However, the chef accommodated my dietary restrictions and I could have every single course as it was modified and I got to taste everything. It would have taken so much effort and I am truly grateful. The private onsen is amazing , with a lovely relaxation area and we were lucky to use it multiple times during the stay.

Everyone is friendly including the frontdesk grandma, uncle and young staff! Despite not fluent in English, exceptional service and top notch! Big and quiet room! The dinner and breakfast were amazing!!! Delicious and exquisite them! Walking distance to the lake was amazing! The bus stop for the lake tour was near about 5-10mins walk from it! They have a service bus to bring u back to the station in the am too! Everything was perfect! Even the morning snow from the windows were beautiful!

“Lovely onsen place with private dining area”

I love the fact that we have our own private dining table and room just across our room. It’s a nice table over looking the lake where you can have a matcha or meals. The private onsen is nice too. We enjoyed the dinner too. Great service as well with shuttle to station after check out.

Hotel’s room is spacious. Its layout is great for relaxing and preventing noises from outside. Public bath was extremely excellent. If you want to find good hotel in tazawako lake . This hotel is the best choice.

Staff Food

Absolutely maginificient experience from arrival to check-out. Very friendly, polite and attentive staff, large Japanese style room, excellent, privately served breakfast and dinner menu. Small private and family onsen and gender separate large onsens with outdoor pools.

Absolutely fantastic stay! I spent 2 nights and everything was great. The room was very comfy and the onsen was outstanding. The dining experience was one of the best I've had during my trip. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious with a wide variety of great dishes. Special thanks to the staff, especially the person who served me during meals for their dedication and patience in explaining everything to me. Next time I visit I promise to improve my Japanese!
