“A great stay in a quiet town - awesome Ryokan experience!”

We had a lovely one night stay here. The property was beautiful and the room was gorgeous. The food was an amazing experience and the private onsen was a highlight. The staff were very very friendly. Unfortunately the public bath wasn’t tattoo friendly but we were still able to enjoy the private onsen :) thank you for having us! We loved this stay but you will need a hire car to get there and around.

Great location close to the ski resort and the place is so beautiful, clean and spacious, with a lovely Onsen to soak in at the end of the day. The meal is especially delicious, and the staff are always ready to please.

Very spacious and nice room. Onsen was great. You can book the private onsen for 50 min with no extra charge. Very nice and helpful staff. Food was great. My husband can’t eat fish or seafood and they went out of their way to accommodate that. Close to famous Nyuto Onsen. Bus stop is just out front. Would still recommend your own transportation.

The food was absolutely incredible for both breakfast and lunch, genuinly some of the most delicious and fresh Japanese meals I have ever tasted. The rooms were really spacious with stunning views of the forest out of the windows. We especially enjoyed the private onsen that had a massive glass mirror with views of the forest, during our stay it was snowing and the forest looked magical while we were bathing. The staff were so lovely and helpful.

The food was excellent. We stayed for 4 nights, which means 4 breakfasts and 4 dinners. The food did not repeat, which is amazing. We can tell the master has put in a lot of thought into the dining experience, and we really appreciated. Simple, authentic Akita food, with beautiful presentation and well thought food ordering. We can not ask for more. It is worth coming back just for the food. Also, the hotel is very close to and offers shuttle to and back from the ski slopes. The room was clean and comfy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

I recommend this place with all my heart! I stayed here for 4 nights, and if it wasn't for work, I would have extended for more. The proximity to the slopes is amazing. The staff has been lovely and supporting with any kind of ask or help needed, and the food was out of this world delicious. There is an incredible selection of drinks and a la carte menu as well. You get by bus or taxi from the station, the bus maybe is less frequent than some guests would like but as long as you're aware of the times, you can work your way around it. There are onsen options on the premise, next door and across the street, and loads of activities to do around.

The room was very comfy, as shown in the photographs. The dinner and breakfast were excellent - some of the best food we had in Japan. The private onsen was great, beautiful outlook onto the snow, water not too hot. Staff very friendly and accommodating to our very poor Japanese - google translate worked well for us all!

“Exceeded our expectations”

Aoni Sanso is a beautiful Ryokan accommodation nestled in the mountains and in among nature and beech trees and in winter when everything is white, it is even more beautiful. The property was extremely comfortable. The room was lovely and cosy, everything was well provided for, the facilities were extremely clean, the little dining area and the onsen was just perfect. I especially loved the woody feel of the entire accommodation. Anoi Sanso exceeded our expectations.

It had a private onsen (needs to book with front desk and cost a 150 yen onsen tax) which is quite rare for hotel with this price range. The service and food was also great

Nice place, nice onsen, good food! But you need a car to get to it!
