“Dream place to come back to”

You will not regret staying here. Yvonne is an incredidly warm and welcoming hostess. The place is simple but it's confortable, clean, and has everything you need to rest properly. I had hiked 21km in the rain before reaching the hotel. Yvonne immediately showed me to my room and was patient as I practised my german the entire stay. The shower and bed are great, and there are many options for dinner (great food, big portions, reasonable price).

Almost nothing

Such a lovely place. Even though the property is old, and does not have so many facilities, we felt better than in many other fancy hotels. Kids were super excited for the bunk beds. I don't think we ever stayed somewhere that had such amazing pillows and duvets. Honestly it was a dream. The host was super friendly. We had dinner which was amazing. I can really say that we were very lucky to find this place to experience swiss charm.

A gorgeous hotel in a charming village. The room was spacious, albeit up a couple of flights of stairs, and quiet. We slept very comfortably in a king sized bed. The bathroom had a plug in heater which was very welcome as it was cool and wet outside. The manager, Yvonne, was wonderful and couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful.

Very friendly staff, very helpfull and really nice to children. Location was in a quiet area what was perfect for us to stay for the night during our trip to Italy. Plenty parking available and very nice to have a restaurant in house so you don't have to look any further.

“Traditional hospitality in a great location offering good value.”

Super friendly & helpful owner & staff. The hotel has been in the family for ages (100+ years?) and provides old fashioned hospitality. I noticed that many, possibly most, of the people coming into the restaurant are locals from the area which is always a good sign - they know where to go in the area. Excellent value for what by Swiss standards is an affordable price. I didn't have much of a view from my room, but other rooms at the front might. However after a 2 minute walk from the hotel, you have the most incredible views imaginable of the mountains, lakes & towns below. Pop into the cheese maker 100m behind the hotel where they sell local cheese 24 hours a day on an honesty basis - open the unlocked door, select a cheese you want from one of the fridges, pay for it with the card machine left on the table or leave cash in the box. Their cheese is served at breakfast at the hotel as well. I will definitely be staying at Hotel Montana again.

The location is awesome, scenic, and picturesque. The owner is a lovely lady who works very hard with a smile on her face always. We were late to check in, and by that time, the restaurant got closed. This being small town, there were no other restaurants open as well. But she offered some sandwiches and breads and even helped us cook our Maggie, all without any extra charges. Breakfast was also good, with delicious local Swiss cheese and breads.

Fantastic location, if you walk half a km you'll come by Schiller-Balkon, a great viewpoint. The hotel is clean and spacious, even if old. The staff is helpful. Free parking behind the hotel (big deal in Switzerland).

The host was super helpful providing all info, accommodating our requests and giving good tips. The location is out of the world with best mountain and lake views. The restaurant was also very good, with a very friendly/family atmosphere in the evening. It just made our short stay memorable. Even the people from the village were very friendly.
