Got a very warm welcome from our host. The hotel was spotless, very clean. Great location making it easy to get into Fussen and up to the castles. Our host even surprised my wife with small bottle of bubbles for breakfast on her birthday. Staff in general all had a smile on their faces.

Friendly and helpful reception staff. Tasty breakfast with a great view. Clean and well appointed room!

“Another great stay in a very welcoming hotel”

This is the second time we have stayed at Hotel Waldmann and it is a lovely hotel. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh. Good choice for dinner and well prepared. The location for Neuswanstein and Hohenswangau castles is great, there is a 5 min bus ride which we took going up but coming back we walked (only 1.5kms on the flat) as the queues for the bus were quite big.

We loved it here! Friendly staff and great breakfast, walking distance to the castles, the town centre, and other good walking routes. Was also handy having a fridge in the room for our picnic food, and also the restaurant was perfect for after a long day walking.

Very nice place to stay not far from Schwangau. Nice people and good breakfast. They even had oat milk for coffee.

Superb location. Room had nice big balcony overlooking the Neuschwanstein castle. The surrounding areas have endless of amazing possibilities to spend good time.

A lovely little hotel not far from the main sights. Serve up great meals and breakfast. Staff are very welcoming.

This hotel is fabulous. Very clean and comfortable. The restaurant has a very good menu and gives excellent service. The staff are all super helpful, and very accommodating. The location of the hotel is 20 minutes away from the castles, which are easily accessible by local bus or car. The hotel provides vouchers for transportation and a discount for visiting attractions.

A Winter Morning in Schwangau February lingers heavily over Schwangau. The cold does not rush; it settles — quiet, deliberate, patient. Dawn arrives slowly, almost shyly, as breakfast begins at Hotel Waldmann, where routine and nature seem to move in quiet agreement. Outside, the village remains hushed beneath winter’s breath. Bare trees stand motionless against a pale sky. Snow rests in softened patches along the hillsides. The world feels paused. By the window sits a family from Taipei — suspended between distance and familiarity. Layers of scarves and winter coats hang behind their chairs, still carrying the chill from the morning air. Then comes a small voice. An eight-year-old child, cheeks warmed by indoor heat, asks gently for something not written on the menu — a fried egg with soy sauce. It is an ordinary request in Taiwan. It belongs to breakfast tables at home. But here, in a small Bavarian village wrapped in winter silence, it feels improbable. The parents hesitate. They understand the distance between cultures. They understand the unlikelihood. Yet the response from the kitchen comes without fuss, without translation, without resistance. And when the plate arrives — a simple fried egg, steam rising softly, soy sauce carefully added — something subtle shifts in the room. It is not the egg that matters. It is the gesture. In that quiet exchange, winter feels less distant. Foreignness softens. The morning light grows warmer. For a brief moment, between snow-covered hills and a wooden breakfast table in Bavaria, home is no longer far away.

Very comfortable room with a good breakfast included. It is set in a semi quiet rural area less than 2 kms away from the epicentre:start point to commence the top attractions eg Schlosser Neuschwanstein & Hohenschwangau and Alpsee. The hotel is only one bus stop away from it all What was surprising is that the hotel has an excellent restaurant which is very convenient after a day’s work 😊

“Probably not the best location to choose if you want to visit Schwangau”

The Hotel Waldmann was an established family run hotel that seemed to be a bit understaffed and overworked, we did stay on a holiday weekend, which didn't help. The room felt a little tired and whilst clean was small cramped and the shower facilities were not the best. Quite expensive for what you got. The evening meal waspoor, probably micro-warmed and not too appetising, Breakfast again was a bit 'skimpy'. I think the general standard was low because of the location, Schwangau Castle being close by and high demand for accomodation in the vicinity high. We came away not too impressed and certain won't be back
