The hotel is in a beautiful location on a hill overlooking the lake. The character of the surroundings is rather rural. The hotel offers a very cosy atmosphere, a nice bar and a very well run restaurant which offers a really high standard at a reasonable price.

“Great peaceful base for visiting the Lago di Sauris area of the Carnic Alps”

Morgenleit Hotel is a great base for exploring the Lago di Sauris region of the Carnic Alps. The tiny village, set in meadows with stone and wood houses and a hilltop church, is a serene, traditional setting. The hotel and town are a fine base for outdoor activities (skiing and snowshoeing in winter), hiking, mountain biking and zip line in summer. The room was clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was excellent; the staff was very friendly. (I appreciated the hostesses English skills!) The hotel features a fine restaurant on the ground floor overlooking the village; try the 'frico' (grilled potato and cheese) with the famous Sauris-made Wolf brand melt-in-your-mouth speck (prosciutto) - yummy. I enjoyed a one-hour hike up to Rifugio Eimblatribm and took in the view while sipping vino rosso and eating speck. Don't miss visiting the nearby negozio di formaggi (cheese shop) for the local cheeses!
