Sapana Village Lodge - A DREAM stay

Staying at this very unique Tharu-inspired eco-resort was a gorgeous experience for our family. It offered everything we needed for both a thrilling adventure and a deeply relaxing stay. We were incredibly impressed by the luxury aesthetic achieved through sustainable wood craftsmanship and decor and the important work they do to support the local community. The staff were genuinely kind and enthusiastic, and seemed to operate like a big, welcoming happy family. We absolutely loved our sunrise walk with the elephants and the unforgettable jeep and river safaris. Our only disappointment was our short 3-night stay; we would have happily extended it had we discovered this beautiful spot earlier in our month-long Nepalese journey. We’d love to visit again and check out the new swimming pool we just barely missed!"

Photos never do anything justice but especially Sapana. We couldn’t believe what was before our eyes, it was so special to watch the rescued elephants enjoying the river and the fields just in front of the view deck. The staff, people, views and service are just some additions that make up for the pleasantries of the atmosphere. We added on another night because we didn’t want to leave. The staff were so accomodating and beautiful to chat to. The vibes were so encouraging as we were served by trainees. It made for a very personal and beautiful experience. We loved Sapana for our honeymoon and can’t wait to bring our future babies back some day soon.

SAPANA VILLAGE LODGE… A LITTLE PEACE OF PARADISE!

SAPANA VILLAGE LODGE, SAURAHA, CHITWAN, NEPAL … A LITTLE PEACE OF HEAVEN! Sapana means “Dream” in Nepali and SAPANA VILLAGE LODGE is indeed a verdant Garden of Dreams and Delights. After a month of hectic travels through Nepal visiting Temples, Palaces, Bars and Bazaars, it was a joy to escape to a world of soporific enchantment. On arrival, following a (challenging!) journey on a Sofa Bus (which does NOT offer the comfort the title suggests), the charismatic Manager NARAN greeted me with a delicious watermelon Welcome Drink and escorted me to my characterful, spacious room with a banana tree outside my balcony and a beautiful full view of the exotic gardens. In due course, I met the hands on Founder and Managing Director of SAPANA VILLAGE LODGE, DHRUBA GIRI and his lovely wife BARSHA, who have put heart and soul into the creation of this Shangri-La hideaway. They have also extended a philanthropic reach through SAPANA VILLAGE SOCIAL IMPACT (SVSI) with the creation of many impressive educational and community projects. Kali with the orange eyes of a tiger, Seti and a little white puffball Rami (the three adorable dogs) contribute to the warm atmosphere of family hospitality. There are so many beautiful places and spaces to sit, chill, lounge, drink and dine at SAPANA, you are spoilt for choice. Most Guests once they spot the peaceful meandering river will make for the narrow bamboo bridge over a tributary stream, to the alluring riverside jungle Terrace. In the early morning and at sunset or indeed at any time it was a pleasure to sit here, often with a Gorkha beer to hand. It was from here I took close up videos of elephants and rhino that were better than many of the shots I got on my jeep safari! Breakfasts are delicious, cocktails are excellent and candlelit dinners simply divine. The day ends early here because the exquisite dawn chorus and the cosmic magic of the sunrise become addictive and something not to be missed each day of your stay.

Sapana Village is an exceptional and rare gem. Much greater than just what you will see on Booking.com photos. From the staff to the food to the property to the safari guides, this place is just the best. An absolute highlight and we are so glad we stayed there. If I return to Chitwan, I'll only stay there.

Bungalow not worth the extra $

The staff here were really friendly, helpful and accommodating. The view from the hotel was nice and we even saw a rhino in the river by the hotel! The grounds are well maintained and there’s plenty of spaces to chill out.

Wonderful place to be

There are some places that truly reach the bottom of my heart, and Sapana Lodge is one of them. Every single detail here is created with purpose and in harmony with nature. The lodge is committed to supporting the local community, protecting wildlife, and practicing sustainability in different ways. If you are visiting Chitwan, I highly encourage you to spend some time at Sapana Lodge. You’ll find beautiful nature, genuine care for animals, sustainable practices, delicious food, comfortable accommodation, and above all, wonderful people who make your stay truly unforgettable. Thank you to the entire team for such a special experience. Hope to see you again!

A must visit

Beautiful location, really felt like you didn't need to leave as it had everything. I didn't realise there would be rescue elephants on site (I think between 6.00-9.00 and 14.00-16.00) so was amazed when on check in I saw them in the grounds. Plus a rhino just turned up one morning! A great place to relax, lots of places to sit and soak up the view/watch the animals, swings and hammocks also. In the evening a fire pit to sit around. Great food, especially the 'veggie surprise' and friendly attentive staff. They arranged all my activities for me so that I could make the most of my time: elephant feeding, canoe ride, jungle trek, jeep safari and bird watching. The guides were brilliant. Most importantly is the projects they're working on to support the local community. A great place to spend a few days and my elephant keyring will remind me of the lovely time spent here :)

Clean and well-maintained hotel with everything you might need during your stay. There is clear attention to the needs of international guests, both in the services provided and in the overall organization. The staff is very kind, friendly, and always willing to help, especially with planning activities and excursions. Highly recommended for a comfortable and stress-free stay.

All we needed for a break from busy Kathmandu. We loved the walk and tea with Elephants. The canoe trip with bird watching was informative. And we even got to see rhinos and crocs on an afternoon safari. In between time to relax in the beautiful Sapana gardens. Food also delicious.

We loved our stay here. From the moment we arrived, everyone was super nice and welcoming. We feel so lucky to have found this hotel. The food was outstanding (probably the best meals of our whole trip!) We also booked all our activities through them, which ended up being the highlight of our journey. Honestly, what an amazing place. We had some trouble with transport due to landslides in the country, but the manager was incredible, helping us find alternative options and keeping us updated at all times. We absolutely loved it here

Amazing.

Everything was wonderful, the room, location, staff and food. The location was exceptional, nice and peaceful, it is close to a river, where we saw elephants every day crossing the river, on our last day we also saw a rhino grazing, and peacocks too. One day, me and my husband did a 'stay-in hotel day' as it was raining and it was absolutely enjoyable too just to enjoy and relax in the property. Staff we friendly and lovely. On our last day,due to the road blockage we were stuck one extra night, the staff arranged pick up immediately, and arranged our room super fast as well. We were very grateful.
