Very helpful and pleasant host. Great restaurants and sights to explore.

We had a choice of 3 apartments, and we choice the biggest! It was clean and tidy and the beds were comfortable! It had a well equipped kitchen !

First floor apartment with lovely forest views from the balcony. Large comfortable bed. Air con. Friendly and helpful host, Maria, who made breakfast for us ($6 per person) on our first morning. Good location for Sarapiqui river activities and Eco Lodges. Supermarket 80m down the road.

“Lovely stay, wish we'd had longer!”

Host was perfect, lovely traditional property in a great location for sarapiqui river activities. We'd have happily stayed longer if we had time on this trip. Great restaurant called Rusti Ticos 5 mins drive away great for a casual dinner!

We enjoyed this large appartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one of which external and more basic) particularly as it rained the whole day. Conmfortable space with an extra sofa, good wifi connection and a kitchen - though mising some tools.

Maria the hostess was lovely. Extremely helpful and very quick to reply to my messages Able to see a lot of birds from the window (including a couple of toucans). Shame the weather wasn’t great so we were not able to sit outside and appreciate the location fully. Private parking Facilities at the property suited our needs Loved the cat and the two dogs :)

“Stay here!”

Maria, the owner, is the sweetest person ever. She took such great care of me. It was no problem to check in early, even though she had a really busy day. She made everything work for me. The apartment is very big and the price is incredible. She told me, she would want to find something similar in other countries if she travels, so she wants to offer something nice for low budget travelers here as well. So sweet. Shower is great. Kitchen is big and nice. You have so much space

The hostel is situated in a perfect location in the village center. Situated a 80 meters from the main road, so very quiet. Supermarket, bakery, Best Coffee and the company for booking rafting and other tours are at walking distance. In the morning you can hike opposite of the road to the nature reserve for birdwatching; and there are so many species of birds! In the afternoon you can walk to the river and have a swim or dip in to it to cool off. I booked a private room with private bathroom and the rooms are very big, so you can stay with 4 persons. The hostel has a lovely view, expect Ara's and many multicolored birds in the backyard snacking from the banana's. The owner Maria is so warm and friendly, and there are 2 lovely dogs who want to be friends with you as soon as you arrive. The facilities in the kitchen are very good. Everything is super clean and tidy, value for money is superb!

“Charming house with a balcony near Puerto Viejo de Sarapaqui”

Casa Sol is a charming 2 bedroom self contained unit adjacent to the owner Maria, who was an excellent host. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and a balcony/chairs outside the main bedroom upstairs. It is about 500 mtr off the road. Casa Sol is in Chilamate, a small settlement about an hour's walk from Puerto Viejo de Sarapaqui centre. There are buses about once an hour into/back from town. There is a small supermarket about 5 mins walk away and a couple of restaurant/bars. Sitting on the balcony morning and evening I could hear much bird song, croaking frogs and even monkey calls in the distance. I had a very happy 3 night stay, wandering the local back roads including one excellent section through rainforest. Saw 2 kinds of toucan, spider monkeys, caiman and many butterflies including a Morpho.

“Beautiful place, excellent facilities, great location”

Beautiful house, great facilities, excellent location, incredibly kind and welcoming host. María went above and beyond to make sure I had a comfortable stay, and the property itself is gorgeous. It is spacious and I slept very well each night, plus there is air conditioning and facilities for cooking food, and washing clothes. Casa Sol is also between Puerto Viejo and La Virgen, within close walking distance of the bus stops - making it very well located if you wish to travel to these towns. Would absolutely recommend and I wish I could have stayed longer!
