Sapporo International Youth Hostel is conveniently located just a 3-minute walk from Gakuenmae Subway Station, from where the Sapporo Clock Tower and Odori Park are accessible within a 10-minute walk and subway ride. “Clean, comfortable, well-cared for, and affordable”
Not only was it very affordable, the facilities were all very clean and obviously well-cared for. I dont think I found a single sign of wear & tear despite how old the building's style looks. The bathrooms were very clean, the bathhouse was nice, and it's showers were separated and safe. The receptionist was kind and patient with us despite the language barrier as well. Had a very wonderful time here, strongly recommended!

The location was extremely convenient being right next to Gakumae station. The free parking for hostel guests was an added plus as finding parking in Sapporo can be very difficult. I didn't have the time during my stay to try the bath area but I look forward to taking advantage of that in the future.

loved the spacious clean rooms and shower and onsen, great value for money! staff were really nice and accommodating, when i forgot about the no shower after 10am rule they let me take a quick one since it was my first time..location was really near to the train station too (useful for running to open the door just before the 12am curfew)

Such a good value for money! First of all I loved the area, it's full of students and feels very welcoming, there's food and shops around (Toriton has the best sushi!). The room was above average size for what I have seen during my trip. There's a lot of space in the common areas and a bath (tattoo-friendly). I also love the fact it was at walking distance from the centre (about 30min) but still far enough to get a nice walk by the river. If you take the tube, the stop is around the corner and it's a couple of stops away from the main station. I would recommend it but PLEASE remember there is a curfew and if you enjoy typical Japanese late nights out it is very early (midnight). It worked great for me as I was working remotely in the evening and wasn't going out anyway, so if you have a similar situation or you're simply someone who is ok with being back at a specific time, this is a very good, affordable option.
