The room under the staircase is well renovated (except for the old mattress). Aircon works well. Small fridge available. The room itself was actually better than some online reviews suggested. Location in a scenic central street in the Historic Old Town. Friendly english-speaking staff. Secure luggage storage for trips elsewhere.

“Sao Luís's mirror”

The location is really central, only few minutes walk from the main square, restaurants and shops. The downstairs bit is really nice, it is a beautiful colonial building and nicely decorated. Rooms have TV and air-conditioning and hairdryer can be asked to the staff.

Staff from the morning shift is nice and polite as well as helpful, but not the boy from the evening shift (speaks to.you while typing in the phone - you have to wait as customer till he finishes his private messages - very rude)

It is a guest house in a renovated old building. The furnishings in the building are elaborate and tasteful. Air conditioning is quite good. The breakfast is rich in variety and delicious.

Really friendly and happy staff always ready to help in any way. Amazing location. Nice room with fridge and tv and AC was good.

“Basic accommodation with no frills”

Reception staff was really helpful and facilitated a taxi for 130am to the airport - this was a nice thing about the place. Air con effective Wifi worked well Overall room was very basic and served it's purpose for us for two nights in transit but wouldn't want to stay for an extended period. Note - we stayed in a private room. These are actually located around the block in "Americana hostel" and not directly inside Palma hostel.

All ! The house got history, is spacious and beautifully decorated. Room big and bed comfy, breakfast delicious. And, the receptionist an educated man who knows all about São Luís. Carnival music just around the corner, the best! Will definitely come back !

“Charming place in the heart of the old town”

Location is excellent, in the heart of Centro Historico. The building itself is old but very charming, so expect doors and stairs etc to not be of modern standard.

Super hostel, very beautiful, very good location and very nice staff. I highly recommend this place!

“Cheap, but not cheerful”

Best location to explore the historical centre because it's smack-bang in the middle of it. The staff who worked during the day were nice and helpful. Breakfast was decent. BUT you could easily catch an Uber there and spend several hours exploring the area if you wanted to stay outside of the historical area. I don't even think local tourists stay in that area.
