Charmingly and very individually decorated rooms in an old house. Very comfortable beds, many pillows. Very clean. Good Brazilian breakfast with ample fruits and very tastily spiced omelets. Great location in the center of the historic district, you can easily walk to all key attractions or to restaurants at night time. Quiet street.

“Special stay in a historic property”
A gem of a pousada, lovingly restored by its owners in a way that preserves the history and character of the building. My room and bathroom were enormous, comfortable, and equipped with everything that you need for a short stay. There’s an amazing communal living room on the first floor and breakfast is served in a room adjoining a lovely patio area. The owner was a warm and generous host. Only 5 mins walk to the historic centre. If you want to immerse yourself in the history of Sao Luis and feel like you are staying in someone’s unique home, I would highly recommend.

“Beautiful home in perfect location in historic part of town”
Fantastic location in historic centre of town, incredibly spacious, clean and comfortable room, decorated with a Moroccan style. The staff were wonderful and even made us a special breakfast as we were leaving at 6am.

The property is amazing. I loved the atmosphere, the decoration, the room was big. Every was clean and worked perfectly. The AC and the shower were perfect. Location is also great if you are looking to stay in the historic center. The staff was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The tapioca I had for breakfast was dreamy. I had to leave early to go to Barreirinhas and the served us breakfast a little bit early - amazing people.

Casa Lavinia is the most beautiful guesthouse I have seen in Brazil. A rather inconspicuous facade reveals a spacious, elegant colonial house with heigh ceilings and floors and furniture made from precious tropical wood. There is a large, comfortable living room with a fine library of selected classics and a gallery with views into the green patio. Our room Padronal was designed in oriental style with a giant bathroom tiled with mosaics and Moroccan furniture. Everything looked very tasteful and exquisite. For explorations of Sao Luis, Casa Lavinia enjoys a perfect location right in the historical city centre, 5 minutes walk from the market hall around which you will find some good restaurants.
