It’s an oasis of verdure and tranquillity. Oliver and Hellen make all their best to make you feel home. Hellen is a great cook, her food is memorable. The swimming pool is wonderful and kept clean every day. Lots of birds in the property if you are into bird watching. A paradise.

Very relaxing place and great coffee in the morning they import from Sweden. Oliver and Helen are great hosts and make your stay very pleasant. The swimming pool was well maintained and some great birds can be seen. Definitely to be recommended.

Oliver, the owner, was at the airport as arranged and drove us down to the lodge negotiating, seemingly effortlessly, all of the many obstacles along the way - goats, cattle, dogs and even pedestrians (many appearing to have a death wish), checkpoints, heavy traffic, other vehicles leaving and joining the road, often with little warning. and all the while entertaining us with interesting conversation and information. On arrival we met Oliver's lovely wife to be, Helen and were installed in our spacious and comfortable rooms. Tendinkoto is a small lodge with just four rooms presently. Meals are served at a communal table under a shady wooden gazebo with palms fronds making the covering. Oliver and Helen did all the cooking and wow were they both great cooks. Helen specialised in the Gambian dishes, Oliver the pastas and other international style offerings. During our nearly two weeks stay we tried nearly everything and no word of a lie all were fabulous. Most evenings Helen and Oliver would join the guests for our meal and we particularly enjoyed sitting, often long after we'd finished eating, just chatting, laughing and sharing stories about all our experiences of travel ,politics, a bit of religion, everything. It was great. The lodge boasts a lovely swimming pool which is constantly maintained and is very refreshing to cool down in when the temperatures get you a bit too hot. Oliver offers a number of tour options (just ask him) and is able to recommend local taxi drivers who are reliable, should you wish to take a trip to one of the local beaches or into nearby Sanyang village where amongst other things you can change your money to Gambian Delasi at competitive rates. All the staff, several of them are family members, are friendly and helpful and they worked hard to keep both our rooms and the whole place as clean as could be.

We had a wonderful time at the Tendinkoto lodge. First of all, Helen and Oliver were the perfect hosts. They are very friendly and talkative and have the best recommendations for activities, ranging from the true Gambian experience to the worthwhile tourist destinations. Anytime we had a question we would get an immediate answer and they were always ready to help us. Secondly, the food made by both Helen and Oliver was amazing. They had a wide dinner selection ranging from Gambian food to European classics and pasta. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the whole compound is nice and feels private and safe. Furthermore, the whole staff was incredibly friendly. They always asked how everyone was doing and were present anytime you needed them. Of course we can't forget about Max, a fantasticly nice dog that always came running to you in the happiest way. We had a great time and would definitely love to go back if we are ever back in The Gambia. This is not the place for you if you want many tourist attractions on walking distance, but if you want a place as a starting point for exploring the real Gambia with amazing hosts this definitely is the place to be.

TendinKoto Lodge was an absolute dream. Oliver and his wife Helen were extraordinary hosts , thoughtful, intuitive, and effortlessly warm. It truly felt like five-star service while remaining deeply relaxed and personal. The pool is beautiful, the food exceptional, the dogs utterly charming, and the atmosphere incredibly peaceful. What made it so special was the perfect balance: being left completely to our own devices, yet always feeling that anything we needed was immediately there, without ever having to ask. It was the perfect place to land in The Gambia — grounding, restorative, and memorable in the very best way. We left feeling nourished, rested, and already longing to return. Thank you for creating such a special place.

Although a little difficult to find, was worth the effort. More comfortable and well fitted out than I had a right to expect. Although not the largest had the most comfortable bed I slept in Gambia and a lovely bathroom, places for clothes, table, chest of drawers etc. A lovely pool and within walking distance of a typical Gambian village. Host Oliver and Helen very friendly and helpful and accommodated everybodies culinary preferences. The best place I stayed in Gambia. a very quiet and restful place.

Accomodation was excellent exceeding expectations.Food was well prepared and hosts went out of their way to probide us with a good time.Internet was the best ive experienced in The Gambia.

I spent my first four days in Gambia with Helen and Oliver at Tendinkoto Lodge. Oliver picked me up from the airport, greeted me with a cold bottle of water, and took care of buying a SIM card and exchanging money. The Tendinkoto Lodge is very spacious and, with its many trees, resembles a park. The generous breakfast and excellent dinner were enjoyed at a table with other friendly guests. This led to some very interesting and entertaining conversations, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Not to mention the lodge's fantastic amenities, such as, very good beds with superb mattresses and high-quality bed linen and towels + fast internet, the lovely pool, and the warm hospitality. With Helen and Oliver, I felt like I was visiting good friends. For independent travelers in Gambia, it is possibly one of the best places to stay. I hope to return soon.

The on-site restaurant exceeded my expectations. Every meal was freshly prepared with local ingredients, and the flavors were simply outstanding! Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the quality and presentation were top-notch. Oliver and Helen are lovely hosts and staff is also superb friendly. My gf and me booked for two nights, but liked it so much, that we stayed 6 nights longer. Best lodge in Sanyang, for sure!

“Excellent stay.”

We had an incredible stay! Helen, Oliver and their staff couldn't do enough for us and were excellent company. The room was perfect with a large bathroom. Very comfortable and big bed, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a lovely patio to relax. We enjoyed the communal banterbar, where we had some interesting meal times with excellent food, made by both Helen and Oliver. It was also great to have the use of 2 decent bikes during our stay We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Tendinkoto and will hopefully visit the lodge again. Thank you to all.

“Do not miss this unique Lodge in The Gambia”

Our trip to The Gambia was successful thanks to our hosts Oliver and Helen. We appreciated the spacious room (overlooking the pool), the food (breakfasts, dinners), but most of all the peaceful oasis provided by Tendinkoto, and all the guidance and information provided by Oliver before the trip and during our stay in The Gambia. Our hosts did everything in their power to find a solution for us in all aspects. We would also like to recommend an excellent driver named Ousman. He is reliable, a very good driver and is able to solve any problem that may arise on our way (such as a flat tire during our trip to Senegal). In short, if anyone wants to have a good time in The Gambia, they should stay with Oliver and Helen. In fact, their Lodge is a kind of meeting place of interesting people. Every time we had dinner or breakfast, we could have a interesting discussion.

“Amazing Gambia experience !”

This place is really a dream for having a wonderfull Gambia experience. Oliver and Helen are such incredible hosts and beautifull persons. The compund is guiet with beautyful lodges, garden and swimmingpool. Helen is the best Gambian cook !! The bed was perfect and all was so clean and great ! We love the breakfast and dinner and it felt like we were eating in a first class restaurant. We would love to come back and we highly recommend this beautiful place !

“We think of Tendinkoto as “our paradise”….so quiet and peaceful,”

Each morning we were greeted with a lovely breakfast of fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, hot Tapalapa bread, handcrafted local jams, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber and freshly boiled egg. Sitting under the bantaba we watched the antics of monkeys in the trees, while listening to the myriad calls from exotic local birds.

From the first moment that Oliver picked us up from the airport, we felt safe and at ease. We stayed here with our 2 children and enjoyed every second of it! You feel immediately at home. The owner Oliver and Helen are great hosts, the kindest people who serve amazing food. We are birdlovers and you can see a lot of species in their garden. They have two bikes that you can use to discover the small town and cycle to the beach. We slept like a baby.
