“Affordable hostel, in Zona Colonial”
Very central, in Zona Colonial and steps away from El Malecon. Relatively safe to walk at night. Near restaurants and corner shops. My favorite was Konvite Haitian Restaurant.

“Very good place close to zona colonial”
This is my second stay in Puerta Roja. For me it's the best budget accommodation in Punta Cana. Communication with the owner is very good, place is nice and have good A/C. Also Mayo working at the receptcion is nice and helpful. I definitely recommend the stay there !

The accommodation was really good value for money considering that we had our own bathroom, kitchenette + a microwave, and AC. The common areas are nice and the atmosphere is very chill. There are lots of plants and cover and a fan in case it gets hot. The location is pretty good too: just west of the colonial zone but only by a couple streets. It still feels safe because there are lots of people about and shops.

“I would recommend to stay in the center of Zona Colonial.”
The staff is really nice there. If you want something just to crash. Why not. But don't expect much. It is really simple. No toilet paper, hot water takes time to appear and it looks clean, but it's quite sticky. But the towel and sheets are nice and clean for sure.

I felt very welcome and save with having the host Juan around. He was very helpful. I like all the flowers and plants in the guesthouse. It made it look so cosy.

“Overall we enjoyed La puerta roja and would go back, it was good value for the money and cute!”
Location is fabulous, on the edge of Zona Colonial, a quick walk in to La ciudad and a safe neighbourhood. Panadaria on the corner and great colmados on the close corners. Overall the space is bright and nice with lots of plants and good common space if you want to hang and chat with other guests. Basic rooms, but they are clean with a/c and fans. Bathroom was clean also. Water cooler for common use. Friendly helpful staff.
