Set in the centre of Santa Caterina Valfurva, family-run Hostel San Matteo is 200 metres from the ski lifts. It offers heated ski storage, free Wi-Fi, and a traditional restaurant and bar Rooms are simply furnished and feature a TV, safe and telephone. We were driving from passo stelvio to passo gavia, it was a perfect stop between them. We reached it after 22, slept well and went on.

Avoid this place at all costs. I booked a 4-person room through Booking.com for single occupancy. Upon arrival, I discovered that I was given a 2-person room despite having confirmation for a 4-person one. I’ve never seen rooms this dirty. it seemed like they were never cleaned. The only positive was the relatively friendly staff.

The food was amazing. Traditional Italy homemade food. I would definitely go back there because of the food. Beautiful place with lovely views and lots of ski options around.
