Overview
Hotel Sportalm is in the heart of Plangeroß, 5 minutes’ drive from the ski slopes. The hotel features spa and massage facilities and an indoor swimming pool. The free shuttle bus to the ski slopes departs from directly outside the hotel. Guests also receive free use of snow shoes. The Sportalm staff will happily arrange activities like guided snow shoe hikes in winter as well as hikes in the summer, tobogganing in the evening or wine tastings. All bedrooms at Sportalm Hotel feature satellite TV and en suite bathrooms. Decorated in traditional Tyrolean style with wooden furniture, most rooms are also equipped with a balcony, providing views of the mountains above Plangeroß. Some rooms also feature a tiled stove. The buffet breakfast includes free range eggs and freshly baked bread. In the afternoon, cakes and small snacks are offered. For dinner the restaurant serves regional specialities and weekly themed buffets. The Edelweissstrand is the hotel’s spa and wellness centre, offering a full range of luxury treatments and facilities. Guests can relax in a steam bath set within an amethyst cavern and in the Finnish as well as the herbal sauna. Free on-site car parking is available.

“Moody”
Sadly, I have to agree with the low-to-middle reviews here at booking, and other review web-sites: we had a one night stay in the suite at an adjoining building connected via a chaotic maze of floors and sloped tunnels (which I can since say is over-priced), but the main point (value aside) is that this surely is the least welcoming hotel I’ve stayed at. Service with a grimace, checkout without so much as a “thank you for your stay”, or a “how was the stay?”, literally nothing. Zero engagement. Sportalm literally took the ‘hospitality’ out of hospitality, and in this industry - it is all about hospitality! Yikes.

“Fantastic food, nice and friendly staff, cozy but modern rooms, loved the spa.”
The buffet and menu offered was fantastic, the staff nice and friendly and the spa modern and well designed. During the day free drinks and snacks are offered all around the house. Great place we'll come back again.

“Excellent wellness resort in the vicinity of great slopes and other winter activities.”
The staff welcomed us with a smile and were always there if we would have needed something. Food had a good and fresh variety of different options. Dinners were amazing and breakfast was all you need for a good start for the day.
