“Disappointed”
Large biting ants in the bed and in the kitchen, spider the size of a plate in the shower and a poisonous recluse spider in the room. Tv didn't work, beds were not comfortable and getting a hold of the staff was hard

Amazing place to stay. We have been travelling in Latin America for 6 months and this was one of our highlights. The views are spectacular and the property is stunning. The casita was sparkling clean and very spacious. The kitchen was excellently equipped and the bed was very comfortable. The shower had plenty of hot water with good pressure. You have your own private balcony with seating and a hammock. There is also a seating area with a firepit and a hot tub so you can relax and enjoy the surrounding views. We found the location perfect it's walkable or by tuc tuc to the main area of San Pedro but far enough away to escape the busy madness. There is an amazing Italian just down the road as well as a small cafe so between self catering and these locations we didn't feel going into the main area essential every day and enjoyed relaxing on the premises. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Nothing was too much to ask and they were extremely responsive. They were happy to provide information about transfers and activities during our stay. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner's family while we were there and again they were super friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend staying here and hope to come back and stay again.

I spent my first night at a location in town and the town can be very noisy. Refugio del Volcan is about mile and half from the main strip of restaurants and bars, but it was a perfect quiet escape for sleeping in the evenings. James was a fantastic host with lots of information regarding the area and suggestions for exploration, dining and more.

Great place, very clean, host very helpful. The view is to die for. The place is an oasis of tranquility in a rough and ugly town of San Pedro. Highly recommended!
