“AC and Location were the top choices”
The A/C was the most important asset in a place in the desert. The breakfast was simple but good. The rooms were clean daily and the common areas were spacious and the swimming pool a great bonus.

The staff was great. Candelaria was most accommodating, kind, and helpful. Breakfast is good, and if you have to leave early in a tour (i.e. before the official breakfast time), they even prepare you a take-away breakfast the night before, so you can take it with you in the early morning. The location is great, right next to San Pedro's main street.

“Beyond expectation thank you”
My partner and I stayed in Hostal Katarpe from 25-27 December. We seen two ladies, I think one is the manager and one is the assistant. Both are very lovely and friendly people. The location is ideal for transfers, tours and walking into the main town. It’s close by shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is very lovely and aesthetically pleasing with a wood and beige theme. It has a nice outdoor seating area as well as comfy beds and blankets. The room was cleaned everyday. I have no complaints about the room. The manager helped us with recommendations on what to do in Atacama and explained things on a map as well as providing local knowledge and recommendation on bus companies for our onwards travel. She facilitated our clothes being washed for a fair price despite us asking last minute and had it done on the same day! She was extremely friendly and helpful and let us use one of the car parking spaces. In addition to this she ensured we had a packed breakfast each morning with water and snacks catering to dietary requirements because we were going to be out on tours from early on and miss breakfast. She even went above expectation allowing us to leave the rental car after check out and offering us a shower after check out due to us being on tours I can’t thank the staff enough for their amazing helpful attitude and would 100% recommend a stay here in this hostel.

Absolutely central location, sense of security and extremely helpful staff. The central courtyard is an oasis of serenity- and the breakfasts were great.

A very central location. Being a hostal it was quite satisfactory to our needs. The manager tried to assist when she could. There is a comfortable courtyard for those needing time to wait before and after checking time. At times it was difficult because the manager spoke no English at all. However she set up a way to communicate with WhatsApp. The hostal is safe and secure.

“Great value for money and excellent location”
Great location. Just off the main street for restaurants bars and shops. Great value for money and very friendly staff. Very patient with us when trying to communicate with a language barrier. Comfortable beds and if leaving early in the morning for excursions they will prepare you some food to take with you
