What an amazing place, the accommodation was perfect! Very usable, comfortable including the beds, clean, with everything you need in an Airbnb and situated amongst the best views we could hope for. Ian was the nicest and most helpful host I think the best we've had before, he has the best recommendations and takes the time to make sure your stay is as good as enjoyable as possible. Thanks so much for the stay we couldn't be happier.

“Quiet oasis in the desert”

The owners Ian and Raphael were wonderful and very helpful. The place is a garden oasis in the desert. Good facilities. Good to be well away from the bustle of San Pedro.

“Absolutely stunning property, location, views and owners!”

Everything! Fantastic location with stunning views from the property. The property had the best equipped kitchen we have ever experienced in a self catering unit. Every detail inside and outside of the property had been designed to provide the best experience for the guests. The outdoor seating area was lovely, tranquil and relaxing. The property surroundings were beautiful and well cared for. Ian was so helpful in giving advice and information on locations to visit as well as helping with booking tickets. Without his help we couldn’t have booked entry tickets as the websites wouldn’t accept payment cards. Raphael was also very kind and loaned us a telescope to watch the rising of the full moon.

“Our little paradise in the desert”

A few days before the trip, Ian provided us with detailed driving instructions on a custom Google map, because the navigation programmes, if left to their own, will apparently lead you astray. This was part of a continuing "care package" with advice on how to make the best of our time in San Pedro, including valuable suggestions on routes, ticket requirements, etc. We landed at the nearest airport in Calama, picked up a truck from the rental agency, and headed towards San Pedro. Calama, from what we see, is about as ugly as you can get, and the road out of town towards San Pedro looks like a road construction company's work yard, so we were somewhat taken aback. The drive to San Pedro takes a little over an hour and first impressions of San Pedro were: Oh no, why did we come here, this place looks like it has not changed since 1850. We were soon cheered up by a breakfast stop at La Franchuteria, which served the best cappuccino and baguettes this side of Paris. On towards the accommodation: My gf was getting desperate, as we were heading deeper into the desert, away from town. We ended up on a donkey trail, with nothing but sand and brush and deep washboard surface. Since the car rental agency had warned us about crime in Calama, my gf berated me where I was taking her. After 5 minutes or so, we found the gate in the stone wall taking us into the accommodation. It was as if we had passed through purgatory past the gates of St. Peter. Ian greeted us there and introduced us to our new home, talking about how his mother had built it with love and care. We immediately fell in love with the hues and the setting. Sitting on the bed, you have a picture perfect view through the trees towards the volcanoes in the distance. The cottage was equipped with all you need and more. My gf immediately fell in love and thinks this is one of the best places we ever stayed. Ian continued to coach us on destinations, how to combat altitude sickness, and many other things.

Ian and Rafael were the perfect hosts, helping us with planning our activities, giving recommendations and making sure we feel right at home. The accommodation itself is absolutely beautiful and you could see how much thought went into every little detail. Also it had all of the amenities one could need and even more!

We did a lot of travelling and walking around San Pedro de Atacama. The accommodation and the environment of comfort that Maria and Rafael have created with great love and great attention to detail, provided us with a great relaxing background. We felt truly at home. Thank you.
