“An older building, but exceptional care”
We liked staying at La Capitana. The location was perfect for getting around Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, and my friend and I felt safe throughout our stay. The staff was very attentive and genuinely caring. We truly appreciated all their support and kindness.

Hot water was not working, we told the staff and they said they could not do anything until the day after, the day we were leaving, so we spent the whole stay without hot water.

“AVOID”
WARNING: DO NOT BOOK SEA VIEW/BALCONY ROOMS. The property is currently UNDER MAJOR CONSTRUCTION and although they have not removed from these rooms from booking.com THEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE. We booked a 1st floor balcony, sea view room with 2 queen beds, only to be checked into ground floor room with 1 bed and no windows in a construction site. When we went back to reception to complain we were told construction only just started early and they didn't have time to let us know (clearly untrue based on the scaffolding, construction debris we saw, speaking to a neighbour and previous reviews). The one positive was Alison on reception at Terraza who was very helpful and immediately gave us a similar room in the Terraza Hotel (clearly it had happened before as there was no hesitation). Her customer service is impeccable, she dealt with the situation very well and helped us throughout our stay. I feel sorry for the reception staff, they should not have to deal with these situations because of incompetent management.

“Our Capitana was a viral part of our San Juan trip.”
The staff was so nice, right off the bat. We were welcomed so warmly. During our stay, a big bug came in our room and one of the cleaning ladies came to help us get it out. The location was also amazing, right when we come out of the room, we are faced with the ocean and the Castillo San Cristobal (historic landmark). It’s super easy to walk anywhere by foot from there. Another very good aspect of the studio is that it comes with everything. We could very easily cook there.
