It’s very quiet, which can be an issue with hostels. The owner was very welcoming and took the time to show me around and there is the option to pay for eggs, coffee etc there too.

It‘s a wonderful place with the cutest hosts Abu, Gerson & Carlos. It‘s the perfect place tonrelax rught at the lake.

The most amazing place! Such beautiful views. Such friendly and accommodating hosts. We stayed in a 5 star all inclusive resort when we first arrived in Guatemala. Mundo Abu was 100 times better! The use of all the kayaks and sups etc just added to the experience. We’d go back in a heart beat. SUPERB!!

Had an amazing stay at Mundo Abu in San Juan La Laguna. The atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming, with beautiful views of Lake Atitlán that made it easy to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the stay, always making sure everything was taken care of. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall vibe of the place felt very authentic and laid-back. I would definitely recommend Mundo Abu to anyone visiting San Juan La Laguna who wants a quiet spot with great service and a stunning setting. 🌄☕

It really has everything. Lakeside views, water activities, own kitchen and great staff. Abu himself is the coolest little dude.

I was calm with large common areas down to the lake. Plenty of things to do.

We had a really nice stay at Mundo Abu! It’s a very unique place. Everything is handbuild and you see how much energy is put into building this place over the last years. Carlos, Gerson and the little Abu were so nice, welcoming and helpful in every matter. It is located more on the edge of San Juan and therefore quiet and relaxing, but you reach the pier and town Center also within a few minutes by walking. The character is quite rustical and has a great view.

We asked to be moved to the deluxe room (from double lake) which has a toilet in also. Great amount of space. Kayaks were great to use, though dont go too straight due to the style. Hosts were very helpful, and kitchen was a bonus! Short walk into town and views were great.

I have a lot of love for this place. It has a beautiful view over the lake, it's very quiet, and it's run by the lovely and super helpful Gerson and Carlos. You can rent kayaks from them too. I found it very charming and special. I stayed in the dorm and though not a traditional 'hostel', I still met some lovely backpackers there. It's a bit more rustic (outdoor showers and outdoor kitchen, which is great actually!) but I liked that.

“Serene lake vibes”

We loved being right on the lake surrounded by farms, nature and amazing views. Our hosts were very helpful, nice people and made sure we were looked after. The family deluxe room had a toilet inside the room which was great. We rented a kayak to go over to Las Cristalinas beach which was a great place to swim. We could wash our clothes and use the shared kitchen area. Spots to stretch, meditate, chat with others, look out at beautiful views in all directions.

By far the best place we stayed in Guatemala. It is literally on the lake. It combines the advantages of the countryside (quietness, nature, hiking starting point) and the city as it is at a stonethrow from San Juan city center (shops, restaurants, etc). And above all, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. This was great for our young kids and us.

“Amazing stay”

Amazing and quiet place not far from the city of San Juan. I especially enjoyed the sauna, you can rent it unlimited for 75Q. The personell was always kind and helpful. 10/10!!

When I arrived, Garson gave me a super warm welcome. The next day, I met the owner, who was also a wonderful person. It's a calm and beautiful place, perfect for recharging your batteries, peaceful and far from the noise and party. Come meet little Abu; he'll bring joy to your heart!

EVERYTHING. If you do one thing during your stay in Guatemala it should be staying here. We had the most fantastic stay. Gerson and his wife are so kind and their son Abu is adorable, he even taught me some Spanish. The location is fabulous and so quiet and the rooms are so comfortable. The views are breathtaking and the showers/toilets are always spotless. You can rent water bikes from the family and Gerson is always there to give advice or call you a tuktuk. There’s even an eco sauna! It was the best part of our 2 week stay in Guatemala, we can’t wait to come back!
