“Outstanding and memorable experience!”

This hostel is very special and one of my best memories from my trip to Guatemala. The owner is an Austrian lady who is very helpful and has a lot of information if you like hiking or any other trips. I had a private room and it was honestly amazing quality for the price. Super spacious, huge bathroom and shower area, view across the lake, amazing decor, comfy bed and nice and quiet. The onsite restaurant has some very high quality dishes all made from scratch. The service is a little slow but that's the vibe you want in a place like this. It's located just outside town in a nice quiet area. All the staff are really friendly and helpful and they clearly have a great family atmopshere. It's really ideal if you want to do a long stay. I highly recommend a visit, even if you don't stay then just go and check out the restaurant.

Really nice spacious bungalows in nature. A bit further from the centre, but great place to relax and still close enough to walk to the centre. Staff was super friendly, shower was hot. We had plantain with mole for dessert, which was delicious!

Really clean and quiet place

“Lovely hostel, feels like home”

I love this hostel! It really feels like home. The staff are lovely, the beds are comfortable, dorms spacious, mosquito nets provided, laundry service was good, the food in the restaurant is affordable and really good, they have great tours, a space to do yoga (and sometimes a yoga teacher/ classes organised). Everything is clean and the showers are spacious with hot water. If you book a shuttle with them they take you to the pick up point in the morning and wait with you which is so nice. I was sick and missed my shuttle and staff helped me reorganise it, helped me with my bags and were really kind asking me how I was feeling. I felt really welcome and safe here.

The place is very clean, it was also a nice place to stay. It was an original concept!

“Staying at MayAchik was a treat!”

I loved the nature, the people, the eco concept, the food they offered at the restaurant, and the abundance of awesome activities they organized. The staff was always eager to help! The room was very clean and the town was also by far the best on the lake.

“Cosy and peaceful stay”

Mayachik was a great spot to spend some time in the lake. Even though it's not lakefront like other villages in the lake, it has the advantage of having a really wide green area, from where you can see the mountains around it, it's very beautiful and stay in a calm and peaceful place. I was working remotely, and there are lots of outdoor work stations with outlets and a very strong and stable wifi. The sustainable approach, with dry toilets and solar energy, was also very nice. Their restaurant have great food, with a very reasonable price and a good amount of food, it's nice to have some deals there. There's also a very spacious kitchen if you wanna make your own food. Beds were very comfortable and showers had hot water with good pressure. Also, staff was very kind and helpful all the time, with many locals working there as well.

“Beautiful oasis in the mountains”

The location was stunning. Away from the town in the jungle it is a small oasis. The showers are amazing and the rooms are perfect. All spaces are clean and well thought out.

Really nice hostel, quiet and out in nature, can see many stars at night. Super kind staff. The food was also delicious. Strong Wifi (usually 10-20 Mbps, 2 different networks). Met some awesome other travelers. Nice hammocks. Nice communal kitchen. But the staff is the best part, seriously amazing.

“Beautiful grounds and nice staff, but the facilities could be improved.”

This is for sure an eco friendly hotel. Very beautiful and sprawling grounds. Incredibly friendly and accommodating staff, they brought us extra pillows when requested. San Juan is a really lovely town to stay in and explore. They offer a lot of activites and tours, which we did not take advantage of as we were only there for two nights.

The whole concept was amazing. If you want great vegetarian food, a peaceful atmosphere and a feeling of well being this place is for you. Original and ethical. Highly recommendef

Very warm welcome, beautiful scenery

Everything was perfect. Really delicious Vegetarian restaurant with Vegan options. Strong Wifi. The place is very sustainable with many nature products. Many plants in the garden and places to rest. They organize tours and shuttle services, which are also well planned. Not to forget the kind staff working there, trying to make you feel as comfortable as possible.

Was a nice place to stay and start exploring the city and some hikes around.

It was soooo clean and everything was organised super well; staff was amazing

Really cool hotel, set a 10min walk up from the centre of town it gives the chance to embrace the lakeside forest. The staff were super helpful providing advice and there a variety of activities are available to choose from. The room was spacious and exactly as advertised!

Beautifully located in a lush and green environment, good food and amazing warm and hospitable staff, just incredible on good they are doing their job! Our room was nice and clean with a good view on the jungle scenerey and mountains.
