Overview
This converted 18th-century farmhouse, set in Almeria’s Cabo de Gata Nature Reserve, is 700 metres from San José Beach. It offers horse riding facilities, an outdoor pool and tennis court. Cortijo El Sotillo’s traditional Almerian architecture and distinctive yellow colour blend in with the surrounding landscape. Decorated in fresh white and green, air-conditioned rooms feature free Wi-Fi, satellite TV and a private terrace. There is a safe, minibar and work desk. The private bathroom comes with a hairdryer and amenities. The hotel's restaurant serves traditional Mediterranean cuisine and has a range of Spanish and international wines. You can hire a bicycle at the tour desk, and there is a games room and children’s playground. Free parking is offered and Almeria Airport is 30 km away.

Everything was perfect. The room, the communal areas. Super friendly staff and we ate in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed it We had a room with a terrace (completely private) and an extra large bed. Loved it

We liked the location and the history of the cortijo. There is a really good Indian Restaurant ten minutes walk away.

“Turn back the clock to another era and enjoy the facilities.”
We enjoyed the swimming pool in the afternoon and pool table in the evening. The hotel is an old fashioned themed hotel - dated but authentic furniture and decorations that took us back to Spanish 4-star hotels of the 1980s. We loved it. With a car, the hotel is close to the city and the beaches of the area. The breakfast was good!

The hotel was exceptional. Definitely a stand out place, within walking distance to SanJose beach resort, which is idyllic. The visit to the hotel is one of a personal fulfillment that has been with me for decades. A road trip, through France and Spain with plenty of stop overs along the way to Almeria Following the footsteps of a film star or two, also centred around a visit to Alberocoques, and the Tabernas desert, with its history also linked, only a short drive away. A 4 night stay was too short unfortunately, so another visit will be on the cards. San Jose, just a beautiful retreat for those who long for a more peaceful environment. Accommodation, hosts, bar and pool facilities were outstanding. Unfortunately we had not needed breakfasts, but looking at what was on offer was enticing. Fabulous place for peace and quiet It would be wrong of me to recommend it, as I want it all to myself 🙂 Next time, I shall look to go horse riding and soak up the stunning countryside location. SanJose also has some great restaurants to boot along with some local supermarkets for anything you need Overall, 10 out of 10 for myself + 2

“Excellent, I really enjoyed it”
It’s a nice and relaxed place. The property itself is beautiful. I came to it because it featured prominently in the movie “A Fistful of Dollars” which I have watched many times since childhood.

The location was great, just outside San José, with calm surroundings in a beautiful desert setting. The rooms were large and spacious, and the staff were attentive and helpful.
