Everything! The staff are amazing. They couldn’t do enough to ensure my stay was enjoyable. The cabin is spacious and has everything you need. I really enjoyed my short stay and would recommend it highly.

The staff were lovely and friendly and organised a quetzal spotting tour with a guide at very short notice. The apartment had beautiful views of the valley and mountains and everything we need. Excellent breakfast and Good restaurant next door

Very nice family that runs this place. We were eagerly on the hunt for the quetzal and due to the good instructions from the staff we found it! Know that this means to wake up as early as 5am. Many hummingbirds and butterflies around. The location within the valley is very good cause it's approx in the middle of all important spotting places as well as things to do.

“Two nights in a cloud forest valley.”

The people who run the accommodation are lovely. We had the mountain view hut and it was lovely sitting in the veranda looking over the valley. The bed was very comfortable and there were lots of blankets. Loved the location near the river and a short, steep walking track about 1 km behind the accommodation.

The staff was so kind and helpful. The location is good. The place was clean and light, and as shared on the pictures on Booking.com, no surprises.

The staff are the friendliest people! They helped me book a horseback riding tour and told me about local hikes. They were very patient with my poor spanish. The location is gorgeous. I visited without a car, and this spot is perfect because it is near the middle of the valley. I was able to walk to the end of the end of the valley for hikes, but was also only steps away from a delicious restaurant. The included breakfast was the best I have ever been served.

Wonderful location in the valley. The hosts knew little English but were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms have a nice view, are spacious and have amazing beds. The breakfast was awesome as well! They organise Quetzal tours as well.

Beautiful location with plenty to experience. Especially enjoyed the hiking trails and bird, even saw a quetzal on my first day.

A special place in the mountains.. beautiful sorounding, the host was soooo nice and cordial! Breakfast was very generous and tasty, with lots of fruits, eggs etc.

Our stay in this beautiful corner of paradise was simply perfect! The wooden cabins, nestled in nature, offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The view of the mountains is breathtaking, truly a spectacle at any time of day. We really appreciated the tranquility of the place. A big thank you to the staff and especially to the lovely grandmother who delighted us every morning with giant breakfasts, made with love and local products. A gesture that made our stay even more special! We absolutely recommend this place to anyone seeking peace, nature, and an authentic, unforgettable experience.

“Ecotourism at its best”

If you are into nature and prefer an authentic experience to the more cosmopolitan and sedate luxury hotel chains, then go no further: Los Lagos Lodge is located in a deep valley next door to Los Quetzales National Park, and although it is not easy to get to, it rewards the conscious traveller manifold. The bedrooms are quite simple, but more than sufficient for a short stay, and the Internet actually worked better than at some other hotels we stayed at. But the real stars here are the staff, who must be the kindest people we have ever met! They helped us with everything, were always eager to find the best solutions for us and quickly adapted their menus to our vegetarian diet. They grow a good part of their food, which is absolutely delicious and comes in generous portions: we could not believe how much fresh fruit we got for breakfast! There is also a huge garden attached to the property, and a short trail that allows you to have a first contact with the flora and fauna of the area. Speaking of which, there are several nectar feeders around the main building, so you will have no trouble spotting all sorts of beautiful hummingbirds, and it is probably more likely to see the shy quetzal around San Gerardo than in the national park next door...

Los Lagos Lodge is a beautiful family run property with lovely gardens and charming cabins in The Valley. The Hosts are wonderful and made us feel very welcome and at home, they accommodated special requests such as organising a pick up for us at the bus station and serving us breakfast extra early in time for our departure. The breakfast at Los Lagos Lodge is the best we’ve had in Costa Rica.
